While your membership dues do support the organization, those dues and the revenue we make from the conference only work to keep the organization operating at its current level without enabling us to grow.
Many of you wrote us when a strike was called by unions at the conference hotel in Boston. The leadership of the organization weighed a number of options and, in the end, felt that the best decision, albeit not the easiest, was to move to a new location. Community matters. YOUR voices matter. But to be able to make tough financial decisions like this, the organization must continue to shore up its resources to both allow for unexpected circumstances as well as enable us to grow to meet the expanding needs of our members and the field of Jewish Studies.
Your donation goes directly to serving you and your fellow AJS members with a number of initiatives including:
- AJS travel grants
- Childcare grants for the Annual Conference
- New professional development workshops at the conference and throughout the year
- A new fresh look for AJS Perspectives
- A new conference proposal system
With your help, we will to continue to grow and ensure that the field of Jewish Studies will thrive for the next 50 years.
