Put Those Music Lessons to Good

Our Chaplain, Mother Short, and Chapel Music Director, Mr. Ankney, are looking for musicians to record music for our Wednesday Chapel services. Tip us off that your child plays or sings, and we will get to work recruiting them!

School Store

Camp Chairs, Snacks, and More

The School Store, located in the Simmonds Building, carries everything your child needs (camp chairs, school supplies) AND a few things they may just want (SAS spirit wear, snacks, and more). Food purchases are cash only. Other purchases may be charged to your SMART Tuition account.

CORE, Our Learning Management System

Students have received access to their school email addresses and CORE, our new learning management system. Parents can also access CORE. Here are helpful instructions on how to use it. Questions about email? Contact IT Support Coordinator Paul Schutz. Questions about CORE? Contact Assistant to the Academic Dean Shawna Midgett.

Sewanee Dining

We are excited to officially announce that our food service provider this year is Sewanee Dining. We are grateful for the partnership with the University of the South that has made this possible. The SAS operations are being directed by Chef Manager Teri Phillips

Wait Times

We know that the lunch service has been a little slow this week. We will be tweaking the delivery system to speed up the line without minimizing our safety precautions.

No Sign-ins for Meals

At this time, due to COVID-19 precautions, visitors may not sign-in for meals, and day students may not sign-in for breakfast or dinner

Are You the Envy of Your Friends?

Know someone who wishes they had made the switch to SAS for their kids this year? We have just a few spots open for late arrivals: 6th grade (1), 7th grade (1), and day students or boarding boys in grades 10-12 (3).
Please encourage them to contact the Admission Office TODAY.

Middle School Aftercare (MAC)

Not sure what to do with your middle school child after school? MAC provides supervision for students who are not participating in an Afternoon Program. There are a variety of program and pricing options and payments may be set up via your Smart Tuition Account. Questions? Contact Director of Auxiliary Programs Lizzie Duncan. Middle School students who do not have an Afternoon Program and who are not enrolled in the MAC program, must leave campus by 3:30 p.m. and should be picked up at the traffic loop behind the Resihman-Chamberlain Middle School wing.

Can't Make it to School? Need to Leave Early?

If your child will not be in school or needs to be signed out for a doctor's appointment, please email to let us know. A link is also available on the Parent Essential page.

SARS-CoV-2 Testing Round Two

We will begin the second round of SARS-CoV-2 testing on campus the week of August 24. Because testing is only accurate on the day that it is administered, this will be an opportunity to monitor how we are doing now that school has opened.

Monitoring the Region

Because SAS draws day students from several surrounding communities, we are monitoring the active case rate in our four surrounding counties (Franklin, Grundy, Coffee, and Marion). A seven-day average active case rate of .5% or above would trigger a move to online learning for all classes. As of Tuesday, the seven-day average active case rate is .38%. Other factors that may be taken into consideration are our campus healthcare capacity, local and nearby hospital activity, testing availability, and PPE availability. Keep in mind, that short of all classes going online, there may be times when some classes have to go online due to a teacher's or student's exposure.

Opening Week Survey for Parents

From Our COVID-19 FAQs

Can my day student child participate in activities outside of school and/or beyond the SAS campus?

We ask that parents think very carefully about which activities your child participates in outside of the SAS community. It will take all of us to prevent COVID from coming to our campus. Please be sure that if you are engaging with groups outside of SAS, that they are groups that take COVID seriously and are taking appropriate precautions. Students who participate in these activities may be asked to test more frequently at the family’s expense.

Are visitors allowed on campus?

At this time we are discouraging visits to campus. Please contact us by phone or email if you need to reach someone on campus. If an in-person appointment is necessary, we will set a specific time and place. Essential visitors to campus will be required to have a temperature check and health screening and must wear face coverings.
Read more on our COVID-19 protocols. We also encourage you to view the COVID-19 Protocols video created by our Conduct Council.
