BISD
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Sakai Families,

February has started with a flourish of excitement with our annual food drive for Helpline House, our salmon hatching, and an amazing Lego display. This is on top of all the clubs and activities we have going on, including our newest club called COHO Ambassadors. We have over 25 students signed up for COHO Ambassadors dedicated to leading our core expectations and spreading kindness!

Speaking of COHO, this week's Social Emotional lesson is on “naming emotions”, as research shows being able to name our strong emotions helps keep us calm and think through difficult situations. The student Dare is to practice naming emotions 3 times over this week.

This week's Family Dare is called “Fail Forward”. Share this acronym for F.A.I.L. with your student: First Attempt In Learning. Ask the question, “What did you fail at this week?” Then, engage in a conversation about how we learn and grow from failure. In order to get the best answers and role model well, share with them a time this week you felt you have failed forward. I acknowledge that I have failed to include Family Dares the past few weeks, and appreciate everyone that reached out about it. I’m so glad they are sparking positive experiences for you.

Have a wonderful week, Sakai!
