Fall Athletic Awards

Our Fall Athletic Awards celebration is tomorrow, Thursday, November 5 at 12:45 p.m. (Central). The event will be streamed for our families. Access the event with the passcode &alsowyou. We are excited to recognize our varsity volleyball, girls' soccer, cross country, golf, and mountain biking athletes and to be able to include you in the event.

Winter Afternoon Programs

Winter Afternoon Programs began this week. Students wishing to change their Winter Afternoon Program must do so by Friday. Questions? Contact Academic Dean Kelley Black.

We Need a Little Christmas

The Christmas Revels is our school's annual celebration of the Christmas season through song, dance, poetry, and scripture. This year we will not be able to gather in a packed McCrory Hall (seriously, this is usually the hottest ticket in town), but our music director, J.R. Ankney is hoping to record student offerings for the Christmas season. If your child has a talent that would help to put us all in a much-needed Christmas mood, please encourage them to contact Mr. Ankney to get their gift recorded before our Thanksgiving break.

For Q1, 33 students earned High Honors and 48 students earned Honors. Because students do not receive cumulative grades in Middle School, only Upper School students are eligible for the Honor Roll. View the Honor Roll.

Helmets Required

While we welcome students to ride skateboards on campus, we also insist on protecting your investment in an SAS education by requiring all students (and faculty/staff) to wear a helmet, This policy applies to all longboards, scooters, penny boards, etc. We also strongly encourage students to label their skateboard and helmet with their first and last name. Parents do not have the option to override this policy. A student who violates this rule will have the skateboard they are riding confiscated and will not be allowed to ride a skateboard on campus for increasing durations depending on the number of offenses.

SAS Mock Election Results

The Biden/Harris ticket won the SAS 2020 Mock Election with a super majority in the electoral college and a 135-22 popular vote. Turn out was highest in the "state" of middle school boarding students (88%) and lowest in the "state" of non-residential faculty and staff (43%). We are grateful to David Prehn and the American Electoral Politics class for organizing the election and for all of the information leading up to it to help us understand how the electoral college and voting system work in the U.S.

Flu Shots, Nov. 11

Our last round of flu shots will be administered on November 11. There is still time to request one for your child.
