Dear fellow parishioners,
Since our last communication in August, the Diocese of Tennessee has received nominations from St. B’s parishioners, clergy and lay leaders of our diocese, and clergy and lay people from other dioceses who believe they know of a suitable candidate to be our next rector. We are grateful for everyone who participated in this portion of our rector search process.
In late October, Canon Jody Howard met with the rector search committee (RSC) to deliver a robust slate of names. We are delighted at the number of candidates and the breadth and depth they represent.
During the past weeks, the RSC has been reviewing information on the candidates, conducting interviews, and engaging in discernment on the candidates. Our goal is to deliver the names of finalists to the vestry in February. This would keep us on target with the time line we shared in May and hopefully lead to a new rector being installed in late spring or early summer. Note that as we work, the RSC is tasked with maintaining strict confidentiality regarding the identity of candidates. We ask the congregation to respect this part of the process.
We continue to ask for your prayers for each of us and for our candidates, and for your continued patience. We trust that the Holy Spirit is working among and through us, and that God’s good plan for our parish will be revealed.
If you have further questions or feedback for the search committee, please contact us directly at rectorsearch@stbs.net.
Faithfully,
