To my SWEAT peeps...


Morning family!  It's 42 weeks into the year with 7 weeks remaining in 2019.  Have you taken the time to sit with yourself and evaluate where you are and how you did with this year's goals?  When I review on my Sundays during these last few weeks, here are some of my thoughts.   Maybe they will help you....
  • How did I do this year being more positive?   I've worked long and hard these past 2 years of leaving behind the shit that has happened to me that I had no control of and that I still to this day am having to deal with.  But even though my fight for freedom closes to another year of not being free, I feel have been extremely successful in being positive and knowing the God and His Universe still has a beautiful plan for me and although it did not unveil itself  in 2019, I  will hold eyes high for its unveiling in 2020.  I will love the family of SWEAT with all my heart and raise my little mini with every breathe of life that I have been given.

  • What have you done this year to develop yourself?  I've read several great books, continue to visit my counselor once a month to stay grounded on my visions and goals, I journal to my son every morning and for me every Saturday and Sunday before I head to the gym.  Next year, as I begin to set new goals, I will attend two seminars:  one by Gary Vee and one Health/Fitness related.  What have you done this year?

  • Remember (as I tell myself quite frequently), you become a little stronger with every single challenge you face.   Little or big, you grow.   Remember that losing or not getting something particularly the way you wanted it isn't failure even if it feels like it.   Learn to see failure as a closed door to something that just didn't fucking work out and now you move on to a new something.   I promise you, I'm a master at this now.   Trust me.

  • Another HUGE ONE FOR ME.....always believe that your time is coming.  In the meantime, go about your daily business whatever it is with great purpose and certainty.  Love yourself so much that you care for yourself as a high priority.   If you feel like your a badass, then you will empower others.   Please trust me on this one also.  I've done so much work on all these areas.  Believe in me.   I'm here to teach you.   

Please take a moment by Sunday and sit with yourself.  Review.   Meditate on it.  Begin to embrace new goals for the new year.  Write in your journal what your thoughts are regarding last year's performance.  Write about how you will perform this year and begin to write random thoughts on all your ideas and goals for 2020.  We can clean them up later, but for now, do the pre-work.  We will talk more in the next 7 weeks about the new year.   Mwah!

SWEAT News...

I'm so excited to have a new team member on board at SWEAT.  Niki Martino will be taking over the Tuesday 6:00 am Bootcamp starting this upcoming week.  I received great feedback from the first class she taught last week.  She definitely brings the SWEAT vibe and adds her own personal style.  She's the whole package...hard core, knowledgeable and committed to bringing it to you each and every time.  A little more about Niki...
"I’m originally from Philadelphia where I started as a professional ballet dancer. I have a degree in Culinary Arts & Nutrition and a Master’s in Exercise Science. With over 20 years in the fitness industry, I’ve competed in figure as well as traveled around doing seminars in fitness and nutrition. My motto: “I believe you can achieve anything you set your mind to with the right plan. It’s all about the journey”."

Thanksgiving Week:
  • We will be hosting our annual Turkey Day Deficit workout before you gorge on all the food and fixings for the day.   Starting your day with your SWEAT family and allowing time for you will make the day go so much better. You will laugh, cry, sweat, probably blurt out obscenities, and drop it low until the deficit has been met.  8:00 - 9:15 am.  

  • Friday's classes will be condensed into one master class to get your ass back on track and work off some of the turkey and fixin’s. We'll be riding the storm for this 75 minute post holiday detox workout.  Mental focus with consistent steady work will be required to get you through this one.  8:00 - 9:15 am.

SWEAT’s moving in Movember for the men in our lives.  We’re teaming up with the Orlando Fire Department Station 5, to raise funds for the Movember project, an organization who assists with preventative measures for men’s health - testicular cancer, prostate cancer, mental health and suicide prevention.  Just as the world focuses on women in October, the focus for this movement is to hone in on men's health in November.  To learn more about this foundation, you can visit their website at https://us.movember.com/.

Mark your calendars!  We are bringing you a killer class...SPIN/Firefighter Frenzy!  You'll be on and off the bike suiting up in some firefighter gear, running stairs, pushing the truck, carrying fire hoses and so much more.  All proceeds from the event are going directly to the Movember project, specifically to the Orlando Fire Department's team page.  If you would like to provide any additional donations to this cause, or if you can't attend class but you would still like to make a donation, you can either make a contribution here directly online to the Orlando Fire Department's team page or you can drop off cash or check and we will be happy to combine it with ours.

We'd like to adopt two families in need for Christmas and take care of their wish lists so they have a holiday to remember.  We want to keep it local and serve those in the 32804.  If you know of a family or have resources that may be able to provide us with two families in need, let me know and we'll reach out.   Let's let our SWEAT family provide some holiday magic to those that need it.  We will have a special class on Saturday, December 21st to highlight this charity fundraiser.  Mark your calendars now!   More details to follow...

In the Kitchen...

Cranberry Apple Sauce

In preparation for the upcoming Turkey Day, I thought I'd share some yummy goodness.  This Cranberry Apple Sauce is perfect combination of sweet, tart and tangy and it will quickly become your favorite cranberry sauce ever!

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 (12 ounce) package fresh cranberries, rinsed and drained
  • 3 granny smith apples, peeled and cut into slightly chunky pieces.
  • ½ of a small lemon, seeded, sliced thin and diced (throw out the ends)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¾ cup dried cranberries

INSTRUCTIONS
  • Add first 6 ingredients to a medium size saucepan and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, until cranberries have popped, stirring frequently.
  • Remove from heat, add dried cranberries.
  • Transfer to a dish to cool and refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
Serves: 12

Good Read/Listen...

So many of us struggle with making a decision between two choices. We don’t know which way to go in fear of never knowing what might of happen if we choose the other option. It’s time to stop letting that fear control you. Take a moment to watch this.  Caution: not to listen in the car with kids.  F words used as frequently as I use it.  Me and Gary V. tight in that way...Just sayin'!
