MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Sakai Families,
I hope you had a restful and joy filled break. My family and I took lots of wet walks around Bainbridge and in the Olympics. We were also able to see some friends we haven’t seen for two years, which we were very thankful for. Hiking and connecting with friends are a few of the things that help me when I’m feeling stressed, and I am so grateful we had the time over break to do them.
Today in COHO, students will discuss what brings them joy and create a “bliss list” of activities they can choose to do when they are feeling stressed, anxious or need to calm down. Tonight, you might ask your student what they added to their bliss list and share with them what would be on yours. As moments arise over this month, you may even model this for your child by stating the healthy ways you are choosing to deal with stress and invite them to participate.
I am sure the next few weeks will feel very busy at Sakai as we finish out the calendar year. This time of year always seems to fly by at school. A quick reminder that we are going outside for recess everyday. Students should have appropriate attire for the weather. And, now is a good time to remind your child to check our Lost and Found. We have lots of found clothes and water bottles.
Have a wonderful week, Sakai!
