Longwood Gardens

Longwood from Home

Things are heating up this summer and so is Longwood from Home! From Light: Installations by Bruce Munro to our new Design Tuesday workshops to Member Appreciation Days, we hope you’re making your plans to join us at Longwood for all our Festival of Fountains season has to offer. Read on for details about our Community Read author conversations, Member Orientation, Members-only activities, Longwood Reimagined progress … and more!

Our Connection to Trees

Each year, we launch our Community Read program to participants all over the region to spur discussion around important ideas or topics. In 2022, we encouraged readers to explore the concept of trees as nature’s great connectors using the book The Songs of Trees: Stories from Nature’s Great Connectors, by David George Haskell. Listen along to our conversations with Haskell and other experts as they explain how trees contribute to our lives.

New Plant Workshops

From terrariums to kokedama to planted pumpkins ... unwind with friends—and enjoy exclusive access to The Garden Shop—as you create alongside our plant team specialists in our new Design Tuesday workshops. With an ever-fresh, ever-changing hand-picked selection of plants, each fun workshop offers a unique opportunity to create stunning and on-trend pieces for your home.

Guess the Word

This week, we are featuring our fountains in our custom wordle. You have six tries to guess the word related to what we think our fountains do!
Paint Light
Pull out those paints and get creative with our new paint-by-number activity! Create your own beautiful Light: Installations by Bruce Munro landscape from the comfort of home—and come see the wonder of Light in our Gardens.

Beauty in the Making Moment
The last two weeks have led to an important milestone in our Longwood Reimagined project. The first section of steel was lifted for the West Conservatory! Weighing in at around 11,000 pounds and 47 feet tall, this section is the first of 13 frames (or rows of columns and beams) that will form the structure of our West Conservatory. It was critical to get this first section in accurately to ensure that all the other frames line up according to the building’s unique and beautiful design
Want to learn more? Join Longwood staff on July 14 or August 18 at 6:30 pm here in our Gardens for Longwood Reimagined Member Talks. It will be your chance to learn more about this extensive project, the work that has been done to date, and what's coming next.
Free, timed Member reservations are required for all Membership levels, except Gardens Premium Members and Innovators, on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays if arriving after 3 pm through October 30.
