Class of 2023

  • WELCOME TO YOUR SENIOR YEAR! Read this great newsletter from the CollegeBoard about all the things you can do to "Prepare your teen for their senior year".  Full of great information!

  • Senior Parent Night: We invite ALL senior parents (students welcome too!) to come on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 6:30pm in the Choir Room to hear all about what will be happening this year, specifically for your senior. 

  • FAFSA information: Click here to learn about what a FAFSA is, who needs to apply (spoiler: everyone!) and how to prepare to file beginning October 1.

  • VOLUNTEER HOURS! Don't forget that a requirement for all seniors is to complete and turn in a minimum of 20 service hours. These hours need to have been completed starting June 11, 2022 and must be served somewhere in the community (outside of your family).  Please make sure to turn in your hours to Mrs. Jones. Forms available in the front office or on our website.

Class of 2024

  • VOLUNTEER HOURS! Don't forget that a requirement for all juniors is to complete and turn in a minimum of 15 service hoursThese hours need to have been completed starting June 11, 2022 and must be served somewhere in the community (outside of your family).  Please make sure to turn in your hours to Mrs. Jones. Class of 2025

  • Community involvement: Now is the time to get involved!  Find a spot to volunteer and start being consistent with your volunteer time.  Don't forget to document your hours in the high school office!  You won't regret spending the time in your community as well as building your resume for college.

  • Now is the a good time to start thinking about college! It may seem early to start thinking about getting your child ready for college, but it really isn’t — important groundwork should take place in 9th and 10th grades. Click here for a list to help you make sure your childis on the right path.

Class of 2026

  • Welcome to high school!  This newsletter comes out monthly and will be FULL of information throughout your high school career to help with getting successfully through high school at SCA as well as help in making plans for your future.  Please know that I am ALWAYS available to meet with you and discuss your high school career or your plans for post high school.

PSAT & SAT on campus

Taking the SAT exam is a graduation requirement for all SCA seniors regardless of their intent to attend college after high school.  Similarly, the PSAT is the standardized testing required for students in grades 9-11.  
There will only be ONE SAT on campus date and we will be providing testing without accommodations only. If your students needs accommodations or they would like to take the SAT prior to or later than October 12, they will need to register using this link and test at a different location.
If your senior will be taking the SAT on campus, you will need to pay and reserve your testing spot early. PSAT fees for grade 9-11 are calculated into student fees. See details below and contact me if you have any questions. **Please email Mrs. Reinmuth to register for the SAT (students in grades 9-11 will automatically be registered).  Do NOT register for on campus testing through the CollegeBoard site.**

Time: 8am SHARP
SAT Cost: $55 (must be paid by registration deadline below) Fee reduced only if you qualify and have registered with CollegeBoard for the Fee waiver

Save the Date! SCA's College Workshop will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 6:30pm in the SCA Choir Room.  We encourage all our juniors and seniors (and their parents) who are planning to attend college after high school to attend this information night.  Sophomores and freshman are welcome as well if you would like to get a jump start on the future.  
Common App Now Open!  The CommonApp opened for Fall 2022 College applications on August 1st.  Make sure to take a peek at their information for first year students.  

In person Christian College Fair - Save the date for the 2022 Christian College Fair held here in Tacoma at Life Christian on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 6:00-8:00pm.  More information available online.

Intro to College Week!  The Association for Regional Representatives of Oregon and Washington (ARROW) invites you, your students and their families to our Intro to College Week 2022! This event will be held virtually on August 17-18, 2022 and will host 4 webinars about the college admissions process, along with 20 individual college presentations.

Visit a College Fair! Not just for seniors, college fairs are a great way for anyone thinking of attending college in the futre to meet an admissions rep in person and get exposure to many colleges at one time.  Two important college fairs are coming up - the Christian College Fair in Tacoma on September 27, 2022 and the National College Fair in Seattle on November 4 & 5, 2022.  Mark your calendar to make sure and visit these fun and important events.  
  • Did you know you can explore future careers based on what kind of eduction  your want to pursue after high school, or by pay level, or a multitude of other options?  Check out the Occupational Outlook Handbook through the US Bureau of Labor Statistics for more information. 
  • FREE MONEY!  Don't miss out - scholarship season will be ramping up soon.  My motto is that you won't receive scholarship money if you don't apply!  Several upcoming scholarships are currently located on our website.  Make sure to check back often.

  • Search Engines: Make sure to check out the free scholarship search engines online. Remember, you should never have to pay for a scholarship search!

  • Check out Going Merry - Going Merry is a free scholarship and financial aid platform that includes personalized matching with thousands of scholarships and grants.  
Want to Play Sports in College? 
Learn about the two different athletic associations here.  If you are planning to play sports post high school you may want to register with both associations and increase the numbers of colleges who will see you and connect with you as an athlete.  
Students can also visit the NCAA and create an account and find out more about eligibility requirements by visiting the NCAA Eligibility Center.
