NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Wilkes Families,

On Friday, Amii Thompson came to the Wilkes PTO meeting to give an overview of the renaming process and answer questions. Today is the second of two Public Hearings for Wilkes Renaming and will be held at Sakai from 4- 6 pm.

We need to hear your voice about what makes Wilkes such a special community! When we asked students, a third grader said “I feel happy and calm when I am here. I am with people that I can trust.” A first-grade student said, “When I walk into Wilkes, I feel like the people know me. My teachers and all the teachers help me.” Please use this Wilkes community-specific form to share what makes Wilkes special to your student and family.

Don't forget! The new progress report will be shared during conferences. Please take a moment to watch the School Board Study session and/ or check out the other information provided on the district website about the changes.

Warmly,

Whitney

NEW PROGRESS REPORTS
Updates to Grading & Assessment
During the 2021-22 school year, BISD began the process of updating our kindergarten through 5th Grade Report Cards, now called Progress Reports. This work was accomplished through many hours of committee meetings involving stakeholders from each K-5 grade level and school building in our district. The result is a Progress Report aligned with our curricula and assessments and is consistent across grade levels and schools.
These new Progress Reports will be used as of January 2023, replacing our former K-5 Report Cards. Elementary principals and teachers will provide parents and guardians with additional information.
For questions, please contact Amii Thompson, Executive Director of Elementary Teaching & Learning, at 206-780-1067 or athompson@bisd303.org
