News Update: Nigeria and Ghana Release New Banknotes
Both Nigeria and Ghana have released new banknotes into circulation recently.

The Central Bank of Nigeria is hoping to eliminate unfit and counterfeit currency currently in circulation through the direct disbursement of lower value banknotes to various market associations and merchants, through their respective deposit money banks.

The Central bank has also lowered the processing charges for lower denomination banknotes to encourage the return of unsorted banknotes for processing.

This is part of an ongoing project to remove over-circulated and mutilated banknotes from circulation and promote efficient currency management in Nigeria.

The bank is striving to ensure an optimal supply of clean and quality banknotes, in a balanced currency mix, that meets public demand and is also efficient and cost effective.

In Ghana, the Bank of Ghana has also begun the circulation of new upgraded banknotes with enhanced security features. The enhanced notes are the GH₵10, GH₵20 and GH₵50.

The purpose of the exercise is to align the Central Bank’s cash management with global best practice, keep up with changing technologies, and prevent counterfeiting. The new banknotes will feature an optically variable magnetic image and new enhanced security thread, as well as a more prominent watermark and enhanced iridescent band.

The new banknotes also have improved durability and machine readability.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Paycorp Holdings - ATM Solutions Group
Bringing low cost end-to-end ATM services to any location

Before 2000, major banks serviced the South African ATM market. But they knew that independent ATMs meant more reach, lower fees and more power to retailers while assisting banks to grow their footprint. From their first ATM installed in March 2000, ATM Solutions now offers end-to-end ATM services across Southern Africa and Eastern Europe to banks, corporates, retailers and non- financial institutions, with a network of over 5000 ATMs.

They can install their ATMs almost anywhere thanks to wireless and solar technology. And, because they run one of the largest third-party transaction switches in Africa, they can connect to a wide range of banking partners and card associations.

They have been a loyal member since 2002.
