Class of 2023
- FAFSA information: Click here to learn about what a FAFSA is, who needs to apply (spoiler: everyone!) and how to prepare to file beginning October 1.
- SAT on Campus - Taking the SAT exam is a graduation requirement for all SCA seniors regardless of their intent to attend college after high school. There will only be ONE SAT on campus date - Wednesday, October 12, 2022 8:00am - and we will be providing testing without accommodations only. If your students needs accommodations or they would like to take the SAT after October 12, they will need to register through CollegeBoard and test at a different location. SAT fees ($55; reduced only if you qualify for a CollegeBoard Fee Waiver) will be billed to your SCA family account. **Please do NOT register for on campus testing through the CollegeBoard site.**

- College Fairs, College Reps, and College Appplications - oh my! This is a busy time of year for those students planning to attend college starting the fall after high school. Most school applications have opened and students can start completing them and turning them in at any time. Make note of application deadlines at all the schools your student is interested is attending as they all differ. Read below for more information about local college fairs and college reps coming to campus.

Class of 2024- College Reps on campus! Even if you aren't interested in the school, you will learn valuable information about how to talk about college and find out the important questions to ask. Upcoming colleges represented on campus include: Northwest University, Whitworth University, Seattle Pacific University and Washington State University. More to come as well!
- PSAT/NMSQT Testing - On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, all juniors will be taking the PSAT/NMSQT. All students have received information regarding this testing. Testing will begin promptly at 8:00am, so students are asked not to be late and to go directly to their testing room when they arrive on campus on Wednesday. Students need to bring two No. 2 pencils (no mechanical please) and an approved calculator. (Please see me if not sure.) Just a reminder to make sure the batteries are fresh! Students may not share a calculator with other students or use their phone as a calculator.

Class of 2025- Now is the a good time to start thinking about college! It may seem early to start thinking about getting your child ready for college, but it really isn’t — important groundwork should take place in 9th and 10th grades. Click here for a list to help you make sure your childis on the right path.

- HOBY Leadership Seminar for sophmores ONLY! Each spring, 10,000 high school sophomores from across the country participate in one of HOBY’s 70+ State and Virtual Leadership Seminars to develop their leadership skills and learn how to apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace, and community. Learn more about this important leadership conference by visiting their website. Mrs. Reinmuth will submit nominations if your student is interested in attending (Additional Fees apply).

Class of 2026

Visit a College Fair! Not just for seniors, college fairs are a great way for anyone thinking of attending college in the futre to meet an admissions rep in person and get exposure to many colleges at one time. The National College Fair in Seattle will take place on November 4 & 5, 2022. Mark your calendar to make sure and visit this fun event.

Common App Now Open! The CommonApp opened for Fall 2022 College applications on August 1st. Make sure to take a peek at their information for first year students.

- Did you know you can explore future careers based on what kind of eduction your want to pursue after high school, or by pay level, or a multitude of other options? Check out the Occupational Outlook Handbook through the US Bureau of Labor Statistics for more information.
- Thinking of taking a Gap Year? The Gap Year Association has some great ideas of things to do to move you forward during your gap year. While I don't recommend having to pay to join their association, they do have some good ideas and links to some great opportunities. Learn more here.

- ACT SIX SCHOLARSHIP: We have had a few students from our school receive this fantastic full tuition scholarship in the past. This application process is in depth so don't wait to get started on this one! Visit actsix.org for all the information. All members of the SCA Class of 2023 should be eligible to apply for this scholarship (students must attend PLU, St Martins, or Northwest University). Deadline: November 15, 2022
- FREE MONEY! Don't miss out - scholarship season will be ramping up! My motto is that you won't receive scholarship money if you don't apply! Several upcoming scholarships are currently located on our website. Make sure to check back often.
- Scholarship Search Engines: Remember, you should never have to pay for a scholarship search! A few good searches include Big Future, Fastweb, Scholarships.com, and Going Merry

Want to Play Sports in College?
Learn about the two different athletic associations here. If you are planning to play sports post high school you may want to register with both associations and increase the numbers of colleges who will see you and connect with you as an athlete.
Students can also visit the NCAA and create an account and find out more about eligibility requirements by visiting the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Volunteer Hours!Did you volunteer this summer? Work at a SCA sports camp? Or help out at your church's VBS? Don't forget to turn your hours into the front office. You can either complete this form or have your volunteer organizer send an email to tjones@soundchristianacademy.org (it can't come from the student or the parent). Remember, all high school students are required to have the following number of volunteer hours:
Seniors (20 hours)
Juniors (15 hours)
Sophomores (10 hours)
Freshmen (5 hours)
