MacroMinds Foundation 2022 Symposium
RTSWS CEO and Founder, Maura Cunningham and COO, Ashley Leftwich, attended the MacroMinds Foundation 2022 Symposium, where we were selected as one of three nonprofit education beneficiaries. The attendees were brought up to speed on RTSWS' mission and growth plans
The two-day symposium brought the industry together to collaborate, learn and support the three beneficiaries. The exceptional agenda featured leading hedge fund founders and strategists in addition to keynote discussions from Rebecca Patterson, Chief Investment Strategist at Bridgewater Associates, and Paul Singer, Founder and President of Elliott Investment Management.
See below for pictures of the event.
Franklin Templeton's Panel Discussion - Women in Finance: Addressing the Big Gender Short in Financial Services and Investment Management.
Franklin Templeton held a panel discussion, Women in Finance: Addressing the Big Gender Short in Financial Services and Investment Management. It was well attended by attendees of F.T.'s larger conference, Global Investment Forum 2022. Katrina Dudley, a Franklin Templeton Portfolio Manager and RTSWS lead volunteer, is the co-author of the book that prompted this special event.
Maura, RTSWS CEO, kicked off the panel discussion by suggesting that if the financial services industry wants to recruit more women into the profession, they are waiting too long by approaching them at the college level. Instead, young women need to be recruited at an earlier age - in high school as girls in the U.S. fall out of math early.
Here are the top 5 reasons why firms should offer internships to high school-aged girls to help stem the leakage in the talent pipeline of women in two pathways in the M in STEM careers - finance and economics.
Maura then thanked Franklin Templeton for its long-standing support of RTSWS student cohorts in Newark, NJ, and San Mateo, CA.
Three of our NYC Student CEOs were guests of F.T. at the event and had an incredible opportunity to hear from the featured speakers, network with female financial professionals, and even met the former President of the New York Stock Exchange, Stacey Cunningham. See pics below.
SIFMA's 46th Annual Operations Conference & Exhibition
Representing RTSWS in Phoenix, AZ, Partner Engagement Manager, Breigh Ignasiak, attended the SIFMA's 46th Annual Operations Conference & Exhibition. Breigh enjoyed connecting with current and potential sponsors and volunteers while listening to trailblazing panel discussions. Below are pictures.
NY CFA & 100 Women in Finance Happy Hour
Closing out the events from last week, CEO & Founder of RTSWS, Maura Cunningham and COO, Ashley Leftwich, hosted a Happy Hour in NYC for our volunteers from CFA Society New York and 100 Women In Finance who made our inaugural year at The Beacon High School such a success - it was our largest cohort of students at one school - 50+ students.
