To update your preferred name in Axess, look for "Names" under the "My Information" tab. Please also review all of your Personal Information under this tab in Axess and make any updates, as needed.
Student Information UpdateOn the Forms, you are asked to complete the Student Information Update in Axess. Axess recently received a visual refresh, so the link to this item no longer appears. Courses that fulfill the COLLEGE Requirement:- COLLEGE courses
- Education as Self-Fashioning seminars, Autumn only
- Structured Liberal Education (SLE) residence-based course

| Language Requirement & Placement TestsLanguage RequirementAs part of your General Education Requirements, you must complete one year of university-level study of a foreign language or demonstrate that you have already achieved the equivalent.
Language Placement Tests to fulfill the Language RequirementOne way to fulfill the Language Requirement is by taking a Language Placement Test, which may have both written and oral components. Most tests are offered online, beginning June 1. Complete the written portion by July 15 and sign up for an oral interview as soon as possible. The online tests should be fully completed by August 31. Check the schedule for a list of placement tests offered online in the summer or in-person during New Student Orientation.
Language Placement Tests for language study at StanfordMany students enjoy continuing to study a language or learning a new language, even if they have already fulfilled the Language Requirement. If you plan on continuing a language at Stanford, you should take a language placement test. If you plan to begin studying a new language, you do not need to take the placement test.
For questions about the Language Requirement, placement tests, or schedule, email the Language Center or post your questions on the Language Q&A Board in Canvas.
