The message below is being sent to all Duke undergraduate students.

Wednesday, December 22, 2021
Dear students,

We know you all are watching the headlines, and will have seen this morning's message to the Duke community announcing some updates and alterations for how we begin spring semester.
  • Read this morning's email closely.
  • Carefully follow all university guidance regarding testing, attestation, and sequestering: we know that students will be traveling at different times and the holidays make scheduling PCR tests a bit imprecise. If you are not able to get the results of a test within 48 hours of your departure, you will receive additional guidance during entry testing.
  • Watch your email over the next ten days for updates and details.
A few additional details to add:
  • On-campus housing will still open as planned. More details for students living on campus will be shared in the following days.
  • Please note that to attend the men's basketball game on Tuesday, January 4, students must complete an entry test on January 3 and receive notification that their sequester can end.
  • Events occurring between January 3 and January 9 should be virtual. Exceptions must be approved through Duke Groups. For the remainder of the semester, any events (on or off campus) with over 50 people in attendance must be approved through Duke Groups. All indoor events should continue to serve food as grab and go and masks are required.
Last year was an extraordinary year, and we got through it—together. This year is also shaping up to be extraordinary, but we can do this, together, as one Duke community.
Thank you for being in this with us and doing everything you can to help us start the spring semester as safely as possible.

Go Duke,

Mary Pat McMahon
Vice Provost of Student Affairs
