4-H Fashion Revue
4-H Youth from Calumet, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc, Washington, and Winnebago Counties participated in the annual Fashion Revue Monday, June 13.  The event was hosted in person by Extension Fond du Lac County. 11 youth from throughout these counties participated by modeling their own sewn garments and even purchases they have made under the Consumer Savvy category.  All youth K5-13th grade are eligible to participate.

It's important to get first cutting alfalfa harvest rights.
Dairy farmers and the community recognize the importance of high-quality alfalfa in dairy rations. It provides protein, energy, and minerals and increases milk production while maintaining low feed costs.  One of the most important factors in determining alfalfa quality is its maturity at harvest.  Also, the yield of the first cutting of alfalfa is typically the largest of the year, accounting for 25-40 percent of the year's total crop.

Using "I" Statements
You never put your dirty dishes in the dishwasher! You always leave your dishes by the couch! You need to clean up after yourself! 

These are all “you” sentences. Starting a sentence with “you" can make the listener feel defensive right off the bat. The listener is more likely to have their guard up and less likely to really listen to what the speaker has to say.

WIndicators Volume 5, Number 3: Farm Household Income
As a growing number of Wisconsin farms struggle to survive, many farm households (families) are dependent on off-farm income to offset weak and unstable farm-sourced income. Over the five-year average (2016-2020) average household income for Wisconsin farm operators is $98,353 of which $20,210 comes from farming activities, and the remaining $78,143 comes from off-farm sources. One strategy to ensure the continued operation of most Wisconsin farms is to focus on enhancing off-farm employment opportunities.

Small Steps Fruit and Vegetable Rx Program
According to the 2021 Fond du Lac County health assessment, 52% of adults and 35% of students consume at least two servings of fruit on a day and 23% of adults and 17% of students consume at least three servings of vegetables in a day. The goal is to increase the fruit and vegetable intake of Fond du Lac County residents, which can contribute to the prevention of overweight/obesity and chronic disease.

Extension of Fond du Lac County Youth in Governance Program
In partnership with Extension Fond du Lac County, the City of Fond du Lac Youth is starting a Governance (YIG) Program for high school youth. This is a school-year-long program starting in August of 2022 and running until May 2023. Youth are engaged in city government by joining one of four adults-run Fond du Lac City Commission/Board Meeting (which are Advisory Parks Board, City Planning Commission, Alcohol Licensing Commission, and Library Board.)
