Volunteers needed for Move-In Day and Family Weekend

We invite our parent and family community to participate in the Vanderbilt experience by volunteering for the following campus events:

Move-In Day, Aug. 20
Welcome new Vanderbilt parents and families, answer questions and hand out flyers.

Family Weekend, Sept. 9–11
Greet families and assist with check-in.

Diermeier discusses ‘State of the University’ in livestreamed address, Q&A

Chancellor Daniel Diermeier called on all Vanderbilt alumni and current families to be ambassadors for the university during a virtual “State of the University” address on May 24. During the livestreamed event, Diermeier offered an overview of where Vanderbilt is two years after the start of the pandemic and highlighted the university’s distinguished faculty, diverse student body and robust research programs.

U.S. Cyber Command Director Gen. Paul Nakasone, former president of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid and a range of military and intelligence leaders, scholars, prominent journalists and private sector experts in cybersecurity, energy and finance convened at the Vanderbilt Summit on Modern Conflict and Emerging Threats May 4–5.

Vanderbilt jazz program again honored by ‘DownBeat’ magazine

The Blair School of Music’s blossoming jazz program earned a top ranking for its big band in the category of Best Undergraduate Large Jazz Ensemble in DownBeat magazine’s 45th annual Student Music Awards. For the first time in school history, the program received four awards in the same year, bringing its total number of awards from the magazine to nine over the past four years. In addition to the ensemble award, three individual student recipients were honored in the categories of original composition and engineered live recording.
