Dear students,

We hope you had a restful and restorative Fall Break, and that your week is going well so far. We're happy to welcome you back with some good news. As a result of your great work and the low prevalence of cases so far this fall, we're pleased to share this update on our campus processes:
  • Additional capacity for indoor dining is being added at most on-campus locations. Please continue to mask up when not actively eating.
  • Masks are recommended—but not required—in semi-public residential spaces (commons rooms, laundry rooms), similar to Duke's current outdoor masking guidance.
  • The 50-person event capacity limit is no longer in place for student organization events and private parties, though groups will still need to engage with UCAE to help with event planning and safety protocols (especially if food is being served). Remember to register your event through DukeGroups.
These changes are contingent on cases remaining low. Thank you for continuing to follow the appropriate testing cadence, and keep masking in classrooms and other indoor non-residential spaces. Remember to get your flu shot, and keep up the amazing work!
Go Duke,
