Welcome Melissa Turbuck

Diving into the deep end of the pool requires confidence, skill, knowledge, and a willingness to learn. Melissa Turbuck has been displaying all of this as she takes on the role of Program Coordinator at Astonished! She says finding a balance between planning and establishing relationships with Core Members, families, volunteers, and others in the A! community is the constant challenge, but she is loving every minute of itTo read more about Melissa

A! Social Club

The Astonished! Social Club cheered the Roughriders on to victory on Saturday, September 28, 2019. We don’t know if the Saskatchewan Roughriders current winning streak is related to the support from their Astonished! fans, but we do know these fans are faithful through the wins and the losses.  Everyone came dressed in their finest green and white and enjoyed pizza and snacks! Thank-you to the City of Regina for the Social Development Grant, which partially funds our monthly Astonished! Social Club event!
The next Social Club event is A Halloween Poker Night on Friday October 25, 2019. Click here for details. Let us know if you can join us.

What’s Your Style? Dance Night

Creativity was flowing in September at What's Your Style Dance Project. Thank you to the City of Regina for partnering in this project.

Everyone should have the opportunity to let loose and dance in whatever way the music moves them, regardless of musical taste, dance style or ability. The City of Regina is pleased to offer this inclusive dance class in partnership with Astonished! It is open to everyone but adapted to meet the needs of individuals experiencing disability. Instruction will be based on a variety of dance culture, which emphasizes enthusiasm, camaraderie and smiles! The next dance event is November 21 from 7:00 –9:00 – click here for details.

Disability Artivism Across the Flyover Provinces is an opportunity to name prairie-based contributions to the global disability arts movement. From within the walls of institutions to center stage, disabled people have always made art. However, the past 50 years have been a time of growing momentum for disability art and culture in Canada, as demonstrated by the Canada Council’s recent attention to crip aesthetics. This event is taking place November 28, 2019, 9:00-3:15, at the Dr. William Riddell Centre, University of Regina.
