Updates to the RCE Greater Atlanta Logo and New Membership Directory
| |
The RCE Greater Atlanta Marketing and Communications Committee has two updates to share: a new logo and an online membership directory. Thanks to member Angela Aquino, a graphic designer and owner of Lightdaughter Studio, the visual identity for the network has been updated to include all 17 of the SDG brand colors. The colors in the logo and SDG icons shown on the website are based on the global UN branding for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition, we'd like to thank Georgia Tech student Sophia De Lurgio for the new newsletter banner.
Originally, our network was founded with seven priority SDGs, and the original logo represented them by having those seven colors in the circle of the logo. Because the membership decided to move away from having stated priorities, we have shifted the representation in the logo to include all 17 colors. If you are involved in creating promotional materials for events and need to find the new logo to use, it is located in the RCE Google drive here.
The other update is that a membership directory has been added to the website. It includes the option for a keyword search, as well as a drop down menu that organizes the list by action group. The information is taken from the most recent member survey done earlier this year. In the future, there is an option to include additional information, but we will need to collect that information in order to share it. If there is an interest in additional parameters being included, please contact Claire Horn (chorn.comms@gmail.com) and we will take it into consideration for future inclusion.

New RCE Greater Atlanta HELC Initiative
| |
There is a new initiative within the RCE Greater Atlanta HELC project Building Effective ESD in Higher Education through Multi-Institutional and Community Collaboration.
COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE for Higher Ed Instructors on Teaching with the SDGs
We are excited to invite you to the launch of a new community of practice (CoP) about teaching with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in higher ed. This is a community of educators from multiple institutions in the greater Atlanta area and beyond--UGA is a co-organizer, and instructors in southern and coastal Georgia expressed interest at a recent USG conference. Many of us are working on this topic in our own institutions and this CoP will help us expand our work by sharing our resources, providing networking opportunities, and advancing peer learning.
We will host a networking and planning session on Thursday, May 12 from 11:30am-12:30pm via Zoom. We will spend the first part of our meeting networking, giving you the chance to connect with other college educators engaging their students with the UN SDGs in their courses. We’ll then spend the second half of the meeting planning activities for the CoP in the coming academic year.
We hope you will join us as we get this community started! Please let us know if you will attend by signing up here.
