We are still dancing, just… later.

2021 RebelTHON has been rescheduled for Saturday, Mar. 6. The theme of this year’s annual student-driven dance marathon is “We are still dancing.” The event raises funds for Children’s of Mississippi, which includes the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
There’s still time to register for one of the RebelTHON dance shifts from noon to midnight on Mar. 6 at the Gertrude C. Ford Ole Miss Student Union. More info about this year’s RebelTHON is here and you can register here.

The Living Wax Museum: celebrating Black history though art

Students, faculty and staff are invited to submit a 3-5 minute video, recorded horizontally, of themselves embodying or celebrating prevalent figures in the Black community or moments in Black history using recitation, music, dance, visual art or other forms of art. Selected submissions will be shown Thursday, Feb. 25, 6-8 p.m. on the Rebel LifeSkills YouTube channel. Videos are due by Wednesday, Feb. 24 by 5 p.m. and can be sent to Veronne Clark at vjclark@olemiss.edu. More info here.

Here’s some good news

The new Veteran and Military Services office opened in the George Street House this semester, making it easier for UM student veterans and military-connected students to access their benefits, seek academic support, study and socialize with other student veterans. 🇺🇸

Vaccine mythbusters

Where do we get our information? From here – which comes from health experts across campus. Wherever you get your info, make sure it’s trustworthy and verifiable.
MYTH: The mRNA COVID-19 vaccines contain microchip nanotechnology.
FACT: Hard no. Personal data concerns are totally legit, but the vaccine can’t steal or gather data – the list of ingredients in the vaccine is in the Mythbusters document. If you’re worried about protecting your privacy, the National Cybersecurity Alliance has tips for protecting your data online and in apps.
See more about the vaccine here, and if you have other questions about the vaccine, send them to thepowderblue@olemiss.edu and we’ll try to get them answered!

Why should I do it? More asymptomatic COVID testing doesn’t turn into a higher positivity rate. If we can get enough people to test, there’s a better chance of understanding the positivity rate so we can hopefully have more events this semester. Also, you’ll get an Ole Miss hat, and you might win a $1,000 scholarship, AirPods or a Rec Center membership.
What do I have to do before the test? Create a Sonic MyAccess account, make an appointment for walk-in asymptomatic testing by either texting “2020” to 833-991-3009 or by clicking here, fill out the intake form and save your confirmation number.
What do I have to do at the test? Bring your confirmation number and your Ole Miss ID to your test. Go to walk-in asymptomatic testing at the University-Oxford Depot any day or time during testing hours that week.
What do I have to do after the test? Check your Sonic MyAccess account to receive your results, which should come back within 24 hours. For questions about how to see your results, visit this webpage or call 877-277-6642
Hours: Monday-Tuesday, 1-5 p.m. and Wednesday, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.
