BISD
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Sakai Families,
I would like to wish Happy Veterans Days to all our service men and women and their families! We thank you for your service.
Last Wednesday we held our annual Sakai Reads event. To the volunteers that signed up, we are so appreciative of you. While it ran in a little different format than usual to accommodate social distancing, the connections students made with each other and their books were as deep and meaningful as ever. Our students read a variety of fictional works, all of which had connected themes around “expanding perspectives”. Discussions on each book centered on the importance of having empathy for others and understanding their point of view. I am so proud of our students for their caring insights. I encourage you to ask your child about their book and keep this conversation going.
Have a wonderful week, Sakai!

VISION AND HEARING SCREENING
On Thursday, Nov. 18th, Vision and Hearing screening will be taking place for all students in 5th grade.

We do not routinely test 6th grade students, but we can include them in the screening sessions by parent request.
If you want your 6th grade student included in the vision and/or hearing screening please let us know.

We hope to have at least 3 volunteers each, for morning and afternoon sessions- 8:45am-11:30am and 12:30pm-2:30pm! See the Sign-up Genius link attached. Thank you!

All volunteers must have completed our district's application process outlined here: https://www.bisd303.org/Domain/1809

All volunteers must review the COVID-19  Safety Handbook, complete the COVID-19 quiz and verify their COVID vaccinations are completed.  Even if a volunteer is "active" they are still required to complete these new additions prior to volunteering.

Please wait to sign up until you have completed this process.

Parents will be notified if the school health screening results indicate that a healthcare provider follow-up is recommended.
If you do not want your child screened please let us know as soon as possible.

We welcome any questions you may have regarding this process or your child’s screening results. We are happy to help in any way.
