| Riddick Parker, Jr. STEM Tech Lab – Earlier this week, we dedicated the Riddick Parker Jr. GWHS-JMU STEM Tech Lab at George Wythe HS in honor of the late Principal Parker. The STEM lab will give students hands-on experience in electronics, robotics, programming, advanced manufacturing, and engineering. Enormous gratitude to James Madison University and the JMU Professor in Residence program for making this possible!

| Remembering Ms. Morton – I'm saddened to share that Ms. Brenda Morton, beloved instructional assistant at Fairfield Court ES, recently passed. A dedicated employee who served RPS since the 1990s, Ms. Morton absolutely loved working with children. She was a lively spirit, whose energy and laughter will be missed by all. If so moved, please share your memories of Ms. Morton here, and please join me in sending love to her family and friends.

- Shout-out to Mrs. Ulanda Friday, ICC at George Wythe High School. Mrs. Friday is scheduled to retire on June 30 with 38 years of service to RPS and our students with disabilities. The staff and students of GWHS are losing a true gem. Mrs. Friday is nurturing, professional and generous. She is always available to lend a helping hand and a word of encouragement to the students. In case you didn't know, Mrs. Friday is known as the OICC (Original Instruction Compliance Coordinator) because she was the first official Instructional Compliance Coordinator for Richmond City Public Schools. Because of her extensive knowledge and support to the GWHS community and students with disabilities, she paved the way for all Richmond City Public Schools to have a school-based ICC. Today we celebrate Ms. Ulanda Friday and thank her for her years of service, knowledge, and support. She is truly an asset to RPS and will be missed. Happy retirement!
