Open School Schedule
FCS is pleased to announce that we will have Open School times. Due to the coronavirus situation, Open School time will be a little different. Please keep in mind that we are thankful to have this time. We want to focus on the blessing of being able to have school and not on possible changes. FCS has divided Open School times to minimize exposure. Please take note of the time for your child's age group. It is imperative that you only come for the children listed at the appointed times. We are trying to limit the amount of the people in the buildings at any one time. We apologize that you have to come more than one time for open house, but it is in the best interest of all involved to limit the amount of people on campus at one time. Please only bring the child that has Open House; do not bring other siblings who do not have Open House. Only parents are to come to open house; unfortunately, no grandparents or extended family. We ask that parents take desired pictures at Open House and not on the first day of school; this measure will help the first day of school go quicker. We realize this is different, but necessary. For elementary students, please limit your time in the room to no more than 10 minutes. Staff will be instructed to only allow a certain amount of people in the room at one time. Please follow traffic flow arrows in and out of the buildings.

Middle and High School Open School Guidelines
Students and parents may visit the room where their student will be having class and pick up books, schedules, and syllabi. Please limit the time that you are in the room and the amount of people in the room at one time. Teachers will be available outside to meet parents and students. Designated areas will be announced. In the event of bad weather, teachers will be available in the gym. Typically, there are numerous class meetings that night. The only class meeting will be for the seniors and their parents in the gym at 7 pm. Videos for other class meetings will be available to families by email.
Elementary teachers will be making videos and releasing them to parents for showing classrooms, giving basic instructions, and welcoming students to FCS.
First Days of School
In order to facilitate the start of school better, the 6th through 12th first day of school will be Wednesday, August 19 from 8 am - 12 pm. There will be NO elementary on Wednesday. The Elementary classes' first day will be Thursday, August 20, 8-11:30 am. There will be NO MS/HS on Thursday. All students will come to school on Friday, August 21, for the first full day.
Please be mindful student drop off and pick up will be different. On Thursday, FCS will allow elementary parents to walk with their students to classes and drop them off at their classroom doors. Parents will not be allowed to go in the classrooms. Parents then will follow directional arrows out of the buildings. We know this is very different, but necessary with the current virus situation. After the first day, parents will need to let students out in front of the school. Staff will be there to welcome them and help them into the building. FCS has always had an open door policy for parents to walk in with their children; however, to limit exposure in the building, this change is necessary for now.
The same policy will apply for MS/HS on Thursday and then transition to the same policy on Friday.
FCS staff will meet students as they get out of their cars each morning. The K5 through 5th grades will need to be dropped off at the main sidewalk leading into the school building. Sixth through 12th grades will need to be dropped off at the gym sidewalk. Temperatures will be taken immediately. By CDC guidelines, any student above that temperature will have to go home. Parents will also be asked if the student has had a fever in the last 24 hours, if the student has had any symptoms, and if the student has been exposed to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. At that point, if everything is okay, the student will proceed into the building. Please be patient with us as we master this process in the morning.
Details about departure process for students will be released next week.
Faculty/Staff Additions and Changes
Angie Thomas, our librarian, will be greatly missed, and we appreciate her service at FCS.
FCS welcomes Amy Hayes, a former parent of graduate Caleb Hayes, to the Library.
FCS welcomes Starla Moser, parent of current students and wife of graduate Jason Moser, to 4th grade.
FCS welcomes Angellina Oldham to MS/HS Science and History, 5th History/Science and Elementary Art. She is the spouse of FCS graduate DJ Oldham.
FCS welcomes Ashley Brewer back from a year away after the birth of her second daughter. Mrs. Brewer will be leading our Enrichment Program for K5 through 5th grades.
FCS welcomes Melissa Acosta. Ms. Costa will be assisting HS Spanish and helping students with transition from Spanish to English. She will also be helping Mrs. Roberts with sanitizing/disinfecting.
As you see these new faculty and staff members, help us welcome them to the Faith family.
Additional Announcements and Provisions
FCS is investing in the elementary reading/math program with the development of the Enrichment Center. Our motto is "Helping Young Eagles Learn to Soar." Connie Kivett will be our Reading Specialist. She will continue to help students grow and improve by extra help in Reading through remediation and supplementation. Ashley Brewer will be leading Math enrichment as well as helping students with core instruction on the student's grade level. The Elementary Enrichment Center allows for elementary students to be served in their own "learning centers." Before Covid-19 got involved, FCS was going to convert room 114 into a full Enrichment Center; however, the room remodel has to wait until Covid-19 restrictions ease. We are thrilled for the special emphasis that these two ladies will bring to the elementary program.
FCS was able to give the main school building a new roof coating as well as a new roof coating on MU1 and MU2. All roofs on campus now have been replaced or redone. Lord-willing, no roof should need attention for about 15 years. We praise the Lord for this improvement. We are in the process of repairing numerous places in the parking lot. It could be right after school starts before the work is completed. At Open School, you may walk through the gym and locker rooms to see a few cosmetic additions of school spirit. More new lockers have been bought to replace some very-aged lockers.
All 30 air purifiers have been purchased, and they are up and running in all rooms on campus. We thank God for the provision of this major improvement. All outside lunch tables have arrived on campus and will be installed next week. FCS has received the approval process for two possible grants. One is for the purchase of 32 Chromebooks that will be used in classrooms to train students on Microsoft Teams in the event that school has to go back online. The computers will be used for just about all grades. The computers can also be used for other normal computer training as well as in other classrooms to enhance learning. FCS has also received tentative approval for a grant that will help pay for the installation of a camera security system around the campus. We are currently waiting for the final approval and funding of the security cameras. Lord-willing, they will be in place this fall.
We are thankful for the good enrollment that the Lord has given us. K5, 2nd, 7th, 8th and 9th are all currently full, while 4th, 5th, 6th, and 10th only have one or two spots left.
Preschool in both locations will be open this fall as well. Enrollment is available.
