Dear Moody College Faculty, Staff, and Students:
We have heard from many people expressing anger and disappointment related to Stan Richards’ recent racially inappropriate comments as reported Tuesday night by AdAge. We, too, find these reported remarks to be strongly concerning, and we recognize the hurt and pain they have caused.
We are actively seeking more information to better understand what occurred. We have been in contact with The Richards Group and plan to speak directly with Stan very soon. We are also beginning to have internal discussions with our faculty, staff and students to ensure that all voices are heard.
The university, college and school will use the information we gather internally and externally to make decisions in the coming days about how best to respond consistent with our values. In the meantime, we reaffirm our strong, unbending commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. More information about our values, commitments and actions can be found here: https://moody.utexas.edu/diversity.
We will keep our community apprised as information is gathered and decisions are made.
