Dear Graduate School Community,
I hope you are enjoying the beginning of fall and the cooler days. It is my pleasure to introduce our newly branded Graduate School newsletter, The Vandy Grad Cap. As I shared with our newest graduate students during Convocation earlier this fall, the Graduate School represents many disciplines, but we are one community. We are dedicated to one common purpose: helping you find your full potential as scholars and human beings.
The semester is in high gear and I hope you are taking advantage of the many workshops and programs offered across campus. In addition to one-on-one coaching, our Academic Life Coaches are offering workshops on self-efficacy, motivation, mindset, and work/life balance. The Russell G. Hamilton Graduate Leadership Institute is hosting workshops on inclusive leadership, negotiation, and self-regulation. And we are thrilled to now be partnering with the Career Center to provide career resources for graduate students. Career Coaches Kayla Broom and Christina Keeton are available to meet with students one-on-one; it is never too early in your academic journey to begin career planning.
Finally, the Graduate School will be hosting our inaugural Career Colloquium on Monday, October 25. I encourage you to read more about that event below and register to attend.
I hope you will engage with us and make the most of the resources available to you. I look forward to seeing you at one of our many upcoming workshops or events.
Sincerely,
| |

C. André Christie-Mizell Vice Provost for Graduate Education Dean of the Graduate School Centennial Professor of Sociology
