Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to welcome Dr. Andrew Daire as UW-Milwaukee’s provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, effective today. Dr. Daire visited UWM several times over the spring semester to meet with deans, divisional leaders and staff, governance chairs, UW System leadership, UWM Cabinet members, and me. He immersed himself in learning about UWM, and I am grateful for his commitment and the energy and enthusiasm he brings.
Dr. Daire shared the following comments about his start, “I have been continually impressed and energized during my interactions with UWM students, faculty, staff, and leaders. The pride the UWM community has in our campuses and mission is powerful. I am eager to get started on the myriad opportunities UWM can and will continue to provide to all who engage with our world class institution.”
For details on Dr. Daire’s 31 years of experience in higher education and the responsibilities of his role as provost, please see our Dec. 22, 2022, hiring announcement.
I extend my thanks to Dr. Scott Gronert, the dean of the College of Letters and Science and professor of chemistry and biochemistry. Scott successfully served as interim provost and vice chancellor of Academic Affairs for the last year. We are grateful to have Scott return to the College of Letters and Science, in which he will provide critical academic leadership.
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Daire to UWM.
Best regards,
