FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Blakely Families,
Thank you for your continued patience and support as we navigate the twists and turns of a pandemic impacted school year. As you likely just read in the communication from BISD Superintendent, Dr. Bang-Knudsen, we will be delaying our return to the in-person Hybrid Model until January 2021.

I know that this is not an easy time to be an educator, an educational leader, a parent or a student! We are all trying our very best and it is okay to acknowledge that at times, this is all just really very difficult.

I apologize that the survey sent out last week caused confusion for many families. That of course was not the intent, but I understand that was likely the impact. I received many emails and voicemails directly related to questions or concerns about our return to the Hybrid Model. Please reach out if I have not yet had a chance to get back to you and you would like to touch base further.

Also, please know that I have received a great deal of feedback that more information regarding the hybrid model is needed. Over the next few weeks, I will be providing additional information about this model, as well as some answers and explanations to the most common questions. My hope is that this information will be helpful, regardless of return date.

Thank you for your continued engagement, advocacy, flexibility and support and we navigate through a very dynamic situation. My number one priority continues to be the overall health and wellbeing of our Blakely students. When I get overwhelmed about all that I cannot control in these crazy times, I picture the faces of our Blakely students, and remember my commitment to each of them, and to our entire Blakely community. Regardless of where school is taking place, I want our students to feel safe, happy and supported. In the midst of the uncertainty, I know that this is still our collective goal, and am reassured that we are all working together on behalf of our Blakely students.

Take good care,

Reese

SCHOOL PICTURES - FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH
Drive Up School Pictures

When: Friday, November 13th
Time: 7:30 am to 3:00 pm
Save the date!  During materials pick up, we will have a drive up school pictures.  More specific details to come.
Safety: We will be using a similiar process used to take photos for more than 1600 secondary students earlier this year.
  • Pictures will be in conjunction with materials pick up. We have never had a long line of cars....so if you come around your usual time, the line should never be too long.
  • All Quality School Portrait employees will be screened by a BISD COVID monitor and will wear proper masks during their entirety on campus.
  • Safe distancing will be practiced during the duration of your student’s photoshoot.
  • Please ensure all students who exit a vehicle have a mask on. They will briefly remove it for their photo, then put it on for their walk back to their vehicle.
Do all students need to have their photo taken? Yes! In addition to being a keepsake, this photo serves several other important purposes:
  • These photos are uploaded into Skyward and will continue to play a valuable role in helping us get to know your student.
  • These photos are used in the school yearbook.
  • These photos are used for a Student ID Card
