| Dear #RPSStrong Family,
Don't forget to tune in at 6 pm tonight on the RPS Facebook page for our Civic Voices Town Hall about retaining, developing, and recruiting male teachers of color. Please note that RPS Live! will return next Wednesday at 7 pm.
Switching gears, we're looking for volunteers to help distribute Winter Break meal packs from Tuesday, December 15, through Thursday, December 17. If you can help, please sign up here. Thank you!
With great appreciation,

- A big shout out and thank you to Mr. London and his administrative team for consistent communication, quick responses to questions, and imparting a sense of positivity! A second - belated - shout out to my son's 6th grade team - Ms. Abdelkader, Ms. Upton, Ms. Harr, Ms. Williams, Mrs. Hayward-Jones, and Mr. Lundy. Between back-to-school night in September and parent conferences in November, I was very grateful for the specific and helpful things that they had to share about my student. Thank you all for pushing through and paying attention to each and every student in this moment!
- I want to shout out my kindergartners! I have 15 students and together they have read 1,300 books on Epic! I am so proud of them!
- I want to shout out every single person involved in food distribution. Since we went out in March, you all have not skipped a beat in ensuring our students' basic needs are met. When basic needs are met, higher functioning such as learning is possible, and you all are the ones making that happen! Thank you for your dedication, your consistency, and your love for the students you serve.
- I would like to give a shout out to the math teachers at River City Middle School. They are working hard to make sure they reach every child every day!! They continue to make math fun and innovative. They have formed relationships with their students and it has paid off.
- Shout out to Ms. Bryant at Oak Grove-Bellemeade Elementary School for making our amazing 5th grade newsletters every month! We love being able to share upcoming events with our families in such a stylish way!
- I want to send a shout out to Mr. Schneden at Cardinal Elementary School. Every day I come into his virtual room, his students are focused, engaged, and motivated. It is truly something I notice every single day. He is also super supportive and responsive as a colleague, and I appreciate all his help! Thank you, Mr. Schneden, for all you do for the students and the Cardinal staff!
- Thank you so much to Mr. Brent Evans, ITRT at Oakgrove-Bellemeade, for leading a Basic Performance Matters Training with us on Tuesday. We appreciate you sharing your time and knowledge with us! You are welcome back any time!
- I’d like to give a shout-out to Ms. Dearborn at Ginter Park! She works so hard to meet the needs of every student she works with, talking to families, other teachers, and service providers daily, sharing resources she finds, and undoubtedly working well beyond the hours of the school day. Your kids are lucky to have you, Ms. Dearborn!
- I would like to give a huge shout out to Catherine Mallard at Cardinal Elementary. She totally saved me and my class today when I got kicked out and couldn't get back in! She took over the class and finished out the day while I desperately tried to get back into class. She is an awesome friend, teacher, and teammate, and my students and I are so grateful to have her working with us this year! She truly represents RPS as one of the best teachers! Thank you, Ms. Mallard!
- I would like to give a huge shout out to the English Department at George Wythe High School. Each and every teacher goes above and beyond for their students. Also, shout out to Danea Anderson and Alvin Moore for being named the Teachers of the Month! You are so loved and appreciated! Keep teaching Wythe love.
- Kudos to Michelle Hudacsko for making sure IAs have supplies to further enhance support for teachers and learning experiences for students. Her commitment is unparalleled and she is deserving of commendation. She is reachable, reliable and truly devoted to staff and the kiddos we serve. The Team at Vatex was welcoming and wonderful. We drove away feeling valued and that we are all in this together.
