Dear College of Education Faculty and Staff,
We hope you're enjoying the start of the semester and welcoming the first day of fall with cooler temperatures!
As many of you in the Sánchez (SZB) building are aware, renovations are proceeding at a rapid pace. Although the Student Services Center is near completion (and is looking wonderful), much of the second floor is still under construction and will be for the remainder of the fall semester.
Because a large portion of the renovations over the next few weeks include demolition to concrete, pillars, and walls, the noise level has been, and will continue to be, excessively loud until this portion of the construction is complete.
While the majority of the construction-related noise is in and around 216, many locations throughout the Sánchez building are also subject to increased decibel levels. Unfortunately, this is an unintended and unavoidable circumstance, so please make sure to plan accordingly.
We are hopeful that the noise will begin to subside in the next few weeks, and will continue to notify the community as the renovations progress.
General Reminders
- The Blanton Museum grounds are under construction until further notice. Access to and from the east side of Sánchez will be limited, and pedestrian traffic will be routed north to 23rd and south to MLK. Please see the advisory notice here.
- CoE Facilities will continue to hold virtual office hours every Friday from 12 to 12:50 p.m. Please attend if you have specific questions regarding the renovations.
As always, thank you for your patience with this phase of the renovation project.
Hook ’em!
