Tea Tasting: A Sip Around the World will once again be offered from 7:00 - 9:30pm on Thursday, October 6 in Armstrong Student Center Pavilion and is an opportunity to showcase a variety of tea-drinking cultures, try an assortment of different flavors from all over the world, and provide a space for all to relax and enjoy on a Thursday night.

Another opportunity to showcase cuisine from around the world will take place in the evening of November 3. Rice Battle is a cooking competition to determine the tastiest rice dish from around the world. Fried rice, sushi, jollof, pilaf, rice and beans, briyani, tteokbokki, rice pudding or something else... which is best??

Miami Redhawks Field Hockey Game
4:00 pm on Sat., Sep 17 | Come cheer on our Redhawks as they compete against the Fairfield University Stags at the Field Hockey Complex. This game will also recognize international members of the Miami field hockey team and all international students at Miami.

Sprintax Introduction to U.S. Taxes for Nonresidents

12:30 pm on Wed., Sep 21. | The Sprintax team will be providing an introduction to U.S. taxes for international students, scholars and professionals. Topics covered will include an outline of filing obligations for nonresidents, tax information around working in the USA and other resources to help nonresidents to understand their tax obligations while in the USA.

- Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia | 5:15 pm to 6:45 pm on Thursday, Sept. 22
Join fellow Miamians who want to connect with others from a specific country, region, heritage or language at this event with breakout rooms across MacMillan Hall. Activities and light refreshments from will be provided in International Student Center (MacMillan lower level). Attendees are welcome to share a game, activity, info about another upcoming event, or other ways to stay connected.

Make sure you have all your important documents!

International students should of course keep their passport safe and make sure they have a copy of their most recent I-20 or DS-2019. Reminder that I-20s are now sent electronically via email and that you should print and sign for yourself. Also, if planning to travel outside the U.S., students should make sure they have requested a Travel Signature.
Your student ID is also a must-have and is now available as a digital ID on your phone. Tip: some businesses have discounts for students if they show their student ID!

Eligibility Requirements for Nominations:
Not eligible for this award are: faculty (professors/instructors), student workers, and employees from Global Initiatives, International Admissions, American Culture and English, and the English Language Center.

Eligible staff may include, but are not limited to, those who work in: Residence Life, Dining, Campus Services, Libraries, One Stop, Rinella Learning Center, Student Success, Police, Health Center, a departmental office, academic advising, athletics and others supporting international students outside the classroom.

Nomination deadline is October 3. Winner will be recognized during International Education Week at the Global Friendship Thanksgiving Dinner (upcoming newsletters will have more information).

Volunteer at UniDiversity on Friday, September 30. Volunteers are needed to help with the set up, operations, and clean up for this collaborative initiative promote diversity and inclusion in our community and learn more about Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean peoples and cultures. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt.
