NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Wilkes Families,

As we head into November, I am grateful for so much-- especially our amazing Wilkes community.

During the morning announcements this month, students are being challenged to do one act of kindness a day. These acts of kindness can be as simple as saying good morning to someone, sitting with someone new at lunch, or silently waving to someone in the hallway. While kindness and gratitude are an important part of daily life, November is a special time to celebrate gratitude.

Warmly,

Whitney
DISTRICT BUDGET SURVEY
Your Input Matters!
For this current school year, BISD is deficit spending (meaning it is spending more than its revenues), and this cannot continue into the next year.
The District Budget Advisory Committee is meeting to provide recommendations to the Board of Directors in the development, review, and revision of both short and long-term financial management plans that support the mission and priorities of the BISD.
Please provide feedback on priorities and possible cost-saving measures by completing this district-wide survey. The feedback from this survey will help the District Budget Advisory Committee guide the development of the BISD budget for the 2023-24 school year.
The survey closes on November 18, 2022.

WILKES BOOK FAIR

Book Fair is coming!

The Wilkes Book Fair will run from Monday, November 28th to Friday, December 2nd.
There will be an opportunity to shop after school with or without your student on Thursday, December 1st from 2:30-5:30 pm.  This will be the only opportunity for anyone who is not a Wilkes student to shop.
More information will be shared next week!
The Wilkes PTO has generously offered scholarships. Please email Sheila Jakubik if you are interested in a pursuing this opportunity.
DOGS ON CAMPUS
No Dogs on Campus
We love dogs, but Bainbridge Island School District Policy #2029 limits animal access on school district property to ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone.

No Dogs at Pick-up or Drop-off: Please do not bring dogs on campus during the school day. Some students/parents are frightened of dogs and we want to make sure we provide as stress free an experience as possible. Please have your furry friend wait in the car or at home.

In addition, some families have been letting their dogs off leash after school in the playground area. We have had several students slip and fall in dog excrement during recess. We have also had recess ball popped by dogs.

Please help us by not bringing your dog on campus.
