Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2022!
ISSS is excited to wish graduating international students well at today's International Student Graduation Reception.  
Tomorrow, President Gregory P. Crawford will preside over the commencement ceremony and alumna Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Sharon Bannister (Miami '88) will be the commencement speaker.
Current planning includes open seating (not a ticketed event) and no restriction for number of guests. Divisional ceremonies and other graduate recognition programs occur throughout the weekend. Check the Commencement website for more details.

Are you in the process of cleaning out your current residence?
Donate your furniture, appliances, housewares, clothing and non-perishable food during ShareFest, now through May 17 at Chestnut Fields Parking and residence halls.
Or, share with new incoming international students!
ISSS will be creating a space to share the following items with new incoming international students for Fall 2022:
  • homegoods (dishes, pans, utensils, etc.)
  • small electronics (hair dryer, fan, etc.)
  • new/unused bedding or towels
  • new/unopened snacks
  • lightly used winter coats or other winter gear
  • bikes
If you would like to pass these forward to other international students, please drop off to the International Student Center (MacMillan 017), Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30pm from May 15-May 29. Questions? Contact Dan Sinetar, dansinetar@MiamiOH.edu

Spring 2022 into Summer 2022 
Today is the the last day of the semester for Spring 2022. ISSS wishes everyone an enrichiching and restorative summer! 
Important Dates and Tasks in the Weeks Ahead: 

Please note that scheduled appointments with ISSS will still be available throughout the summer (drop-in hours will resume during fall semester).
Also note, that this will be be the last weekly ISSS newsletter until the Fall 2022 semester begins. Throughout the summer ISSS still encourages you to regularly check your MiamiOH.edu email address and, as always, send your questions to international@MiamiOH.edu

Recognizing International Students' Achievement for Spring 2022
Miami’s 1,500+ international students from more than 70 countries have made many outstanding contributions to our campus and community. Kudos to everyone’s achievements this semester. Here are a few we would like to highlight:
Congratulations to the Miami University Graduate School Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition winner Shiwanka Wanasinghe for her piece Self-Healing Polymers winning a first place award.
 
Congratulations to Sakshi Shahwho has been recognized for outstanding service to the Miami University's Office of International and Transfer Admission as a Global Ambassador. Also, Sakshi has been re-elected as the Local Outreach Chair for Engineers Without Borders and lead the team to provide engineering solutions to communities from Ohio to Rwanda. 
 
Congratulations to Uroš Djokovic, Henju Duvenhage, Pedro Gueiros, Rodolfo Moreira and Yonatan Rosin part of the 2022 MAC Champion Men's Swimming and Diving team. 

Congratulations to Chamithi Karunanayake, who presented "Folding State as the Decision Maker in Triaging Misfolded Proteins" at the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Annual Meeting in April of 2022.

Congratulations to the 
Yaa Amankwah
 and Sadeepa Mallikarachchi, who achieved the Graduate Student Development Series Recognition Award from Miami University Graduate School in May of 2022.
