Dear Class of 2027 and Transfers,

We hope you're well and enjoying your summer - wherever that may be! This week, we wanted to introduce you to the Orientation Coordinators (OCs), the student staff who support Approaching Stanford and New Student Orientation (NSO) all summer long. There are many ways to hear from the OCs this summer, and we'll share some of those in this week's newsletter. We also have a second advising video to share with you, giving you a glimpse into academics at Stanford. We encourage you to explore your interests and this video is an excellent introduction in how to do so!
Have a great week and reach out if you have questions!

Meet the OCs

Approaching Stanford and New Student Orientation would not be possible without the hard work of our Orientation Coordinators. These six OCs spend their summer planning and coordinating the many events that will take place at NSO. As students themselves, it wasn't too long ago that they were in your shoes, eagerly awaiting the start of their first quarter at Stanford. Now that they've had some time on the Farm, they're excited to give back by helping build community, answer questions, and share insights into campus life. Want to chat with the OCs and hear their student perspective? They're working full time in our office and excited to speak with you! Call Approaching Stanford at (650) 723-7674 or email approaching@stanford.edu with your questions.
The OC Blog is a great place to start if looking to hear a student's perspective of university life. Throughout the summer, be sure to check out the OC Blog for new posts, such as Stanford Traditions and I Am Stanford stories. There will be new posts each week!
In addition to the blog, the OCs will be posting regularly on Instagram - just check out this OC video introduction!

Exploring Your Interests at Stanford

Hello, Class of 2027 and Transfers from your friendly Academic Advisors! How has your summer been so far? We hope you have taken time to spend with friends and family, to reflect on your accomplishments, and to do things just for the fun of it! We also want to let you know that we feel incredibly lucky that you chose to join us on The Farm as the next stop in your academic journey.
As we said in last week's newsletter and video (where we introduced the Office of Academic Advising to you), while it is still a little early to work on planning your Autumn quarter, we do know that you are really excited to learn more about your many Stanford academic opportunities. To that end, we wanted to share the next in our series of videos your Academic Advisors have created for you that we think you will enjoy, and we believe are important for you to watch before we get to have our first meeting later in summer.
For our second video, we wanted to get you thinking about how you can explore your interests here at Stanford. So, in this one, we talk about exploring the arts, humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields at Stanford, and also a bit about what it means to study in each of these disciplinary areas.
That’s it for this week! See you next week!
