AUGUST 25, 2021

The count down is on!
With school just around the corner, there are a few important reminders that we don't want you to miss.
Have you completed the annual Attestation Form?

GUARDIANS: Please complete this form attesting that you will monitor your child(ren) daily for symptoms of illness (including taking their temperature) and not send them to school when ill. In addition, you will attest that you will contact your child's school nurse if your child is a close contact to a COVID-positive individual or if your child tests positive for COVID-19.

PLEASE NOTE: School health rooms are very diligent and will send students home if they are exhibiting signs of illness.

The BISD COVID-19 testing site is available for BISD staff and students.
Additional information is available on our website.
HOURS: The testing site is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. After the school year is underway, the site will be open weekdays from 6:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. The site is closed on holidays and school breaks.
LOCATION: The testing site is located behind the District Office, 8489 Madison Ave. N, between Ordway Elementary and the Aquatic Center.
COST: There is no out-of-pocket cost for the test; insurance may be billed for the PCR test but there will not be a copay.
IMPORTANT: BISD students and staff needing testing for travel purposes must access an alternative testing site. BISD is not equipped to provide results to meet travel requirements.

If your child is going to be absent from school, please report it as soon as possible.

You can submit the absence information online via Skyward or by calling your student's attendance office. Please provide details as to why your child will be absent.
Guardians who have a child absent from school will receive an email outlining the next steps on when the child can return to school (if the absence is due to an illness). Learn more here.

We know there are many questions surrounding the 2021-22 school year.

BISD has developed a list of FAQs. Check back as additional questions and answers are added.
If you have additional general questions regarding COVID-19 practices in our schools — ones you think the answers would be beneficial for the greater community to hear — please submit them via this form and we will do our best to include them on the list of FAQs. For specific questions regarding your student, please contact the school directly.

When our schools reopen next week, there will be increased traffic congestion around our school sites.

Please review the details on this website outlining peak times and impacted roadways. In addition, please remember:
  • When a school bus stop paddle is activated, motorists and cyclists in both directions must stop
  • Between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., speed limits in school zones are 20 miles per hour

Isla and Grayson are both hoping for a more normal year.
Calling all students − here's a chance to connect with others by printing and completing this year's 2021-22 School Year sign and snapping a photo of yourself holding it. This has become an annual tradition and it's great fun to see the responses and learn about one another.

Please send your photo to and we will create a first-day-of-school sideshow.
