Winter Musical

Students sang and danced in this classic musical. It was a spectacular performance that followed the journey of a city kid whose rebellious spirit shook up a small town where rock music and dancing had been banned. Special thanks to all who were involved in making this musical amazing!

Pomfret Mystery Checkout Challenge

This winter, English IV: Great Books explored the following question: What makes young adult fiction books great? Students have considered adolescent topics that are consistently encountered in young adult fiction, many dealing with the adolescent journey of self-discovery. As a class, they read the graphic memoir Honor Girl by Maggie Thrash, and Sherman Alexie’s award-winning semi-autobiographical novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.

In collaboration with the Pomfret Public Library, students have created a checkout challenge. What is this you ask? Check out the video to find out!

Untitled by Trish Berk '18

I am a visionary,
But my emotions are rather unpredictable.
I think in a logical way,
But express my energy in an analytical way.
In love,
I seek understanding.
In life,
I seek adventure.
I take on the role of an outlaw,
A wild heart,
An untamed soul.
I am a simple girl; a complex woman.

Linh Phan '18 Chapel Speech Excerpt
"As I slowly fell asleep, I dreamed that life fast forwarded until I was in my sixties. I walked towards a small, thin figure that looked so fragile and skeleton-like, and it barely showed any sign of life. As I came closer, I realized it was my mother. When I touched her to hug her, I could feel her body so small and boney. She slowly crumbled and dissolved into sand. But when I touched her, I felt love. Waking up in tears, uncontrollably shaking, I realized how the gift of life was so generously given by my mother, and how easily it can be taken away. My mom’s youth was traded for my first steps in life, for my girlhood, for everything that I aspire to be."
