Dear OUSD Community,

Below you will find some updates about the work we are doing in response to COVID such as the launch of our new and updated Safety and Facility Dashboard (with site-by-site information), the TK-K Mandatory Student Preferences Form, and upcoming Vaccine and School Safety sessions.

Safety & Facility Readiness Dashboard
The new Safety & Facility Readiness Dashboard allows you to check on the status of the safety and facility readiness of each school site (including Early Childhood and Young Adult). The Dashboard also shows the overall readiness for the entire district. School Safety Leads - along with the site principal and custodial staff - have been doing safety walk-throughs to double check the dashboard’s accuracy. The date of the last walk-through is underneath the school name. We hope this will be a useful tool for you to monitor the status of OUSD’s school sites as we prepare to invite more students to our campuses.

TK-5 Mandatory Student Preferences Form
Last week we sent out the TK-5 Mandatory Student Preferences Form for Distance Learning vs. In Person Support (Spring 2021). Due on March 2, this form is for TK-5 families to share their readiness to return for in-person learning. This information will be used to create site specific plans for in-person learning. Vaccines & Safety in School: Family Sessions
On Thurs. Feb. 25 from 5:00-6:30, medical doctors from the UCSF Pediatric Advisory Task Force (convened by the UCSF Center for Child and Community Health) will address questions about vaccines and the latest science behind safe school reopening. Co-hosted by Youth Uprising, this particular session is focused on African-American families, but all are welcome. Click here for the links for joining as well as additional upcoming sessions.

Staff COVID Testing
OUSD’s Staff COVID Testing program is available to all on-site employees and contractors. Eligible staff and contractors may sign up here. OUSD is following the new state recommendation for COVID testing cadence according to Alameda County’s colored tier outlined here. Alameda County has recently moved to the (regular) Purple tier and has moved to asymptomatic staff COVID testing every 2 weeks.

Athletic Conditioning Opening

Safety Video

The video above shows some of the work we have been doing to make sure our schools are safe and aligned to the most up-to-date health guidance both for the people who are already working there, and for the future when we are allowed to open additional spaces.
