COUNSELORS CORNER

Dear Ordway Families,

Welcome back to the beginning of the school year. It has been so wonderful to see how excited the students are to be back in the classrooms for the full day. During the month of September the Ordway Otter teachers have been busy establishing classroom routines and building a classroom community. One of the ways they do this is to have class meetings on a daily basis which helps the students feel supported as they come back to the school environment.

As we head into October I will be collaborating with the teachers to start social skills lessons based on our Social/Emotional curriculum. At Ordway we use a combination of curriculums based on the needs of the students. Those two curriculums are Open Circle and Second Step. Both curriculums do a great job of being grade appropriate, start with the basics such as listening and then build into problem solving and how to to work with others. If you are interested in social emotional learning, how it works and information on different SEL Curriculum, CASEL.org is a great website that is full of information.

Picture Day - Oct 12

Ordway Picture Day is on Tuesday October 12. Pictures will be taken at school during school hours. The link to pre-pay for photos is found here www.olympicphotogroup.com/prepay

Bus Route Updates - Oct 5

BISD will operate new and improved transportation routes starting on Tuesday, Oct. 5.

Please be sure to check the updated routes as your student’s pick-up/drop-off times may have changed. NOTE: These changes do not impact special education routes BISD Transportation Routes.

Lost and Found

Please label your child's sweatershirts, jackets, lunch bags and water bottles - our lost and found is piling up and labeling their belongings will helps us get them back to you! Thank you.

Remember: If you want to be on the approved list you MUST complete the Volunteer process including the COVID Safety Training and sending in a copy of your vaccination card. Please follow the instructions linked below.

COVID TESTING AT BISD

Kitsap Public Health District has updated its guidance regarding communication of COVID-19 positive cases in our school district.

We are now able to share when there is a positive individual in the same classroom, or on the same bus as your child.

A few important things to note:

BISD will continue to send a general notification to the impacted school community.

ACTION NEEDED: In order to receive notifications for transportation (K-12) and activities (9-12), parents must opt-in by completing the appropriate form below.
