Dear Ordway Families,

I hope this finds you well rested and recharged as we dive into spring! This month, for arrival time, students are listening to recording artist Joe Reilly who takes nature poems written by young authors and puts them to music. With Earth Day around the corner, it fits in well with our shared focus of environmental stewardship and acknowledges participation at all ages.

The stretch between now and Memorial Day will be different for our students this year in a good way: We have in-person learning instead of last year’s unexpected sheltering in place with remote learning and we are grateful for that!  I’m sure you’ll agree that this is a vast improvement and we are all ready to resume our fuller, more familiar daily routines as soon as possible.

Most of Ordway’s staff is now fully vaccinated and we're seeing some positive momentum in planning for a full day school schedule in the fall. We will be planning all summer to incorporate Health Department guidelines with the goal of being back in full force with appropriate Covid safety protocols in place.

This week is the last stretch in Ordway PTO’s ‘Love Each Otter’ campaign. If you were hoping to have an adorable otter magnet and haven’t had the chance to donate, please look for volunteers at arrival time who will provide one more opportunity to support Ordway’s PTO budget items (like enrichment and teacher grants) and spread the message of kindness and unity.
Kind Regards,
Melinda Reynvaan
