Dear Ordway Families,

It’s our first week for hybrid students to be at school! We had a great first day with our K-1 students. Ordway staff is excited to see everyone on Wednesday. Below are some helpful reminders as families prepare for students’ return to learn:

Ordway Hybrid First Week Reminders

How do I know if my child is AM or PM?
  • Log into Family Access
  • Select Report Cards & School Info
  • Select Learning Model
  • Once the report generates click view report
  • Look under ‘Learning Model’
What are the drop off windows for AM/ PM?
  • 7:30-7:50
  • 12:05-12:25
  • Pick up is at 10:35 and 3:10
  • All students have a color coded sticker to indicate dismissal plans (please inform your child’s teacher of changed plans ideally 24 hours ahead of time)
Where is the car drop off and pick up area?
  • Cars should use the north entry drive and follow it behind the school by the playshed for drop off.
  • To help with traffic flow, car drivers may be asked to loop around the church next door to keep cars moving onto campus and off of Madison.
Where are other arrival/dismissal up areas?
  • Bus riders, bikers and walkers: Front entrance
  • Parents who park and walk to pick up are to go to the front entrance.
What items does my child need?
  • A mask that is snug and ideally two layers of fabric/material
  • Scan card for bus and entry
  • Water bottle with a straw
  • Warm clothes (windows will be open and students will be outside a lot)
Thank you partnership as we enter our ‘first week’ of (in-person) school.
Kind regards,
Ordway Staff

TRANSPORTATION

DISMISSAL COLOR CODING

After School Transportation Plans

If you have not done so already, please take a moment to fill out the After School Transportation Plan for your child(ren). This plan is your child's general plan day in and day out. This allows school staff to know your intentions for your child(ren) after school. If your child's plan changes from this, please notify the Ordway main office and leave a message on our  transportation line (206) 842-7637 or email the transporation line: We are asking families to notify us with 24 hour advance notice so we can be sure to get the change to their teachers.
As a reminder families whose children have an assigned seat on the bus were contacted by the district via email last week. If your transportation needs have changed with regards to BISD bus transportation, please notify the main office (206) 842-7637.

COVID SCREENING QUESTIONS
COVID TESTING AT BISD

BISD is one of a handful of school districts in Washington to be selected to participate in a COVID-19 testing pilot program

— a partnership between the Department of Health and the Gates Foundation. This is a state-funded pilot for voluntary COVID-19 screening and testing that will help contain the virus, protect our communities, open up opportunities for in-person learning, and keep students and teachers healthy and safe.

The testing helps BISD add a layer of COVID-19 prevention as we transition from remote learning to in-person learning.  A few important things to know:

Testing takes place during school days at the District Office, 8489 Madison Ave. N, between Ordway Elementary and the Aquatic Center.

Testing is available for any BISD student who is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. Student Scheduling
Reservations for the test are required. We will be unable to accommodate unscheduled individuals.

There is no cost for the test. Your health insurance may be billed, but by law, the insurance company may not charge any co-pay, deductible, or out-of-pocket expense for the test. The Department of Health will cover the cost of the test if you do not have health insurance.

The test is a self-administered cheek-swab test that is similar to brushing your teeth.

BISD staff and community volunteers oversee the testing site and provide you with the test, instructions and monitor the process.

Test results will be available 36-48 hours after the test (or 24 hours after the test arrives at the lab).
