To keep the CSUDH community up to date with the latest news and developments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the spring semester and campus operations, this newsletter will be providing routine updates throughout the crisis.

Vaccine Eligibility Expanding

All Los Angeles County residents age 50 and over are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, and eligibility will expand to those 16 and over on April 15. Everyone who is eligible is strongly encouraged to receive the vaccine to help protect themselves and others.

New Protocols for Repopulating Campus

The County of Los Angeles has updated their Protocols for Institutes of Higher Education [PDF] and made them effective today, Monday, April 5. The University administration and members of the Emergency Operations Center are reviewing the new guidance and looking to see how we can implement the new changes safely. However, to avoid disruption to the spring semester, any changes to class instruction will NOT be implemented this semester.

LA County Moving Into Orange Tier

As the number of new COVID-19 cases continues to decrease, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has announced that as of today, Monday, April 5, the county is now in the less-restrictive "orange tier."

Businesses, restaurants, and other venues will be able to increase capacity, but officials still strongly encourage continued adherence to public health measures such as masking and maintaining social distance—even if you have been vaccinated. Maintaining our vigilance is vital to keeping these positive trends moving in the right direction.

Fall ’21 Class Schedule

The Fall 2021 Class Schedule has been released. Students can begin registering for classes on April 19.

Due to lingering uncertainty about COVID-19 restrictions in the fall, the majority of courses remain listed as 'alternative instruction' (virtual) for the fall semester. Please note that should public health continue to improve in the next couple of months, more classes currently listed as “alternative instruction” may switch back to in-person. Any revisions to the schedule will be completed by June 1 to give students enough time to plan accordingly.

Associated Students Inc. and Academic Affairs have put together a video explaining how to read the fall schedule.

CSUDH COVID-19 Screening/Reporting Hotline

The CSUDH COVID-19 screening tool asks the user to answer questions about experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. The list of symptoms is broad and often mimics symptoms experienced after receiving a vaccination.

Individuals who receive the COVID-19 vaccine and experience side effects within 24 to 48 hours do not need to call the CSUDH COVID-19 Hotline to report symptoms.

Anyone feeling ill and unable to work after receiving the vaccine should contact their supervisor. Symptoms from vaccinations typically do not last longer than 48 hours. Anyone with persisting symptoms should contact their medical provider.

Call the confidential hotline at (310) 243-2076 only to report close contact to a positive case or positive test results.
