Dear SUA Families,

Our fall Preview Day will be held next weekend on Sunday, November 6. Families who are interested in learning more about the high school or Junior Academy can experience what makes us Undeniably Ursula with a customized student-guided tour and information sessions during this event.

Special Schedule on Thursday, October 27

Julie Carrier will be visiting SUA on Thursday, October 27, and will present to three different groups of students at different times throughout the day: 1) Freshmen and Sophomores, 2) Junior Academy, 3) Juniors and Seniors.

Given the structure of the day, we have a staggered start planned for Thursday, October 27. Freshmen and Sophomores will report to school at 8:00 a.m. Junior Academy students, as well as Juniors and Seniors, will begin school at 9:00 a.m. All students will be dismissed at 3:00 p.m. SUA opens its doors at 7:00 a.m. for parents who needs to drop their daughters off early prior to work.

Halloween Costumes

Students may wear Halloween costumes to school on Monday, Oct. 31. Masks, weapons, political, clown, or skimpy costumes are not permitted. Leggings may be worn only if it is part of the costume; tights must be covered with running shorts or a skirt. Students who do not wish to wear a costume must wear their uniform.

AP Exam Registration

Students in Semester I and all-year Advanced Placement courses received AP Exam Registration forms at the AP student meeting last month and by email. Semester I and II exam orders will be combined when applying the NHS-sponsored rebate, meaning you can take the discount in the spring when paying for a total of three or more exams. Registration forms are due Friday, November 4, in the Main Office. If your daughter has any questions about ordering AP Exams, please have her contact Director of Academics Kim Shockey at kshockey@toledosua.org.

Sophomore College and Career Exploration Class

A College and Career Exploration class will take place from 7:45 a.m.- 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Franciscan Center of Lourdes University. Limited parking will be available for SUA students. Lunch will be provided. Students will need to bring their laptops and water bottles.

Sophomores are required to take this class during their sophomore year. If students miss the College and Career Exploration class on Nov. 16, they must retake it the following year with the Sophomore class.

Fall Athletics Update

Last weekend, SUA Crew participated in the Perrysburg scrimmage, where the Quad team of Arden Goode, Grace Perry, Ally Hill, and Calla Bobak placed second! The Novice 4 team of Ellie Bartlett, Allie Whitman, Jenny Fite, Faith Elfering, and Hannah Berlanga, as well as the Double team of Dakota Lambert and Ava Fighter, placed third. This weekend, the Arrows travel to Ann Arbor to participate in the Argo Sprints.

The Golf team competed at the OHSAA State tournament at The Ohio State University Golf Club, and the Arrows placed ninth! The best scores for the weekend were Payton Donnelly with a 78, Emma Myers with a 79, and Kennedy Donnelly with an 80.

Volleyball advanced to the OHSAA District Final with wins against Lima Senior and Fremont Ross in 3-0 sweeps! The OHSAA District Final takes place at Hopewell-Loudon against Perrysburg on Wednesday.

The Cross Country team won the OHSAA District race at Owens Community College in Findlay—and Aubrey Diller won the race! Anna Steinmetz (7th), Finley Andrzejczak (10th), Kylee Quicker (11th), and Olivia Howe (12th) also scored for the Arrows. The team will now compete at the OHSAA Regional race in Tiffin on Saturday.

Soccer advanced to the OHSAA District Semi-Final after defeating Lima Senior in a Sectional Final. In the District Semi-Final, the Arrows lost to Anthony Wayne on penalty kicks after scoreless regulation and overtime periods.
