READY for Thanksgiving, but not ready

William Faulkner statue in front of the Oxford City Hall surrounded by holiday lighting in The Square
They’ve set up holiday lights on the Square, so you know what that means: Thanksgiving is still two weeks away.

But your break starts in one week! (Nov. 19 after classes end.) After you come back from break, you have one more week of classes before finals. Don’t leave your studying til the last minute and make sure you’ve selected your courses for next semester.

On-campus residents
Traditional residence halls will close Sunday, Nov. 21 at noon and reopen Sunday, Nov. 28 at noon, so take the essentials with you for Thanksgiving break. Luckyday, Residential College South, RH1, RH2, RH3, Northgate and Campus Walk will stay open during the break.

Student Housing has space at the Hampton Inn West or Holiday Inn Express for break housing for $84 a night. Submit a Break Housing Request by Monday, Nov. 15 at 4 p.m. in the Student Housing Portal by selecting Online Forms from the red menu bar, and then selecting Assignment Requests from the dropdown menu. If you need break housing, but can’t afford the rates, contact UMatter at (662) 915-7248 or umatter@olemiss.edu.

Announcements

It’s so important to get a flu shot this year! We did such a good job of lowering flu cases last winter with our masks and distancing that we didn’t build up as much flu immunity, meaning this flu season could be tougher than normal. So make sure you get your flu shot before Thanksgiving so you can enjoy your break. Students can stop by the University Health Center weekdays 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. or by a pharmacy in town to get a flu shot.
Adopt-a-Basket
ASB’s annual Thanksgiving food drive is accepting non-perishable food items and grocery gift cards until Friday, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. You can drop off your donation in the L&E workspace in the Union. For food donations, think ingredients for a Thanksgiving meal, like green beans, chicken broth, sugar, cornmeal, etc. For more info, email dlganapa@go.olemiss.edu.
