Welcome to Portland State University!

Dear new Portland State University (PSU) student,

Congratulations!  We're very excited that you'll be joining us at PSU for the Winter 2021 term.  Our institution will continue with mostly remote instruction, offering a range of course delivery options.  Below you'll find information about International Student Orientation and some pre-arrival tasks that you can complete now.  Please check our website about your enrollment requirements as well as arrival.  Any changes will be communicated to you via email.

Thank you for choosing PSU!  We look forward to meeting you soon!

Warm regards,
Office of International Student and Scholar Services at Portland State University

Mandatory International Student Orientation (Non-Academic)

Tuesday, December 29, 2020
9 AM - 12 PM (Pacific Time)
This orientation will be offered virtually via Zoom Meeting Technology

Step 1: Create your PSU computing account

First, you need to create your PSU computing account, also called your ODIN account.  Have your PSU ID number ready and get started via PSU ODIN activation page!

Step 2: Confirm your Enrollment

Please submit the form by logging in with your ODIN account.  You will not be able to sign up for New Student Online Orientation/International Student Orientation until this step is completed.  International students do NOT need to pay the $200 tuition deposit.

Step 3: Complete ALEKS Test

You're required to take the math placement exam (ALEKS) prior to signing up for orientation if;
- you have specific majors and/or
- you haven't completed a college-level math course at a college or university within the past 12 months.

Step 4: Register for New Student Online Orientation (Academic)

Register for New Student Online Orientation.  After registration, one of the international student mentors will email and personally welcome you!  Please ask them any PSU student life questions.

Step 5: Confirm your Measles Vaccination

You must submit Measles Vaccine Requirement Form in order to register for classes.  For more information, please read the University Vaccination Requirement or email measles@pdx.edu.

Step 6: Check for any Holds on your PSU Student Account

Registration holds are placed on student accounts for a variety of reasons: missing admissions data, missing financial documents, missing transfer information, and others.  Information about holds and how to clear them is available at https://banweb.pdx.edu, sign in with your ODIN account, click "Student Services" tab > "Visit Registration Hub" > "Check Reg Status & Holds".

Step 7: Access to Early Course Registration

After you complete Step 4 and sign up for New Student Online Orientation (Academic), you will be automatically signed up for International Student Orientation (Non-Academic).  Once you complete Online Orientation, you will be granted access to register for classes for Winter term.  Please watch for a confirmation email sent to your PSU student email account and follow the instructions!

*Classes will fill up quickly, especially Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics classes.  Please make sure to complete this step as soon as you have access!
**Register for classes BEFORE Winter 2021 International Student Orientation!  Attending Winter 2021 International Student Orientation WILL NOT provide class registration access.

There are no updates from SEVP yet regarding Winter 2021 and whether the exceptions to online enrollment will continue.  We will share information by email, and update our webpage, as we learn more.  We are preparing to offer hybrid courses again in case there is another in-person course requirement for new students.

Step 8: Prepare to Arrive
