A Message from VP Bowman
It’s cold…it’s foggy…and we are moving into the holiday season. Thank you for everything you have done through the first half of the fiscal year! You have all done such a great job keeping the campus beautiful, safe, running smoothly, and fun. It is such a pleasure to walk around campus and know that it is in great hands.
As we move into winter break, I realize how much I am looking forward to 2023. Yes, we have a Presidential search coming up that will bring us a new leadership style, new goals, and a fresh perspective. As always, we will embrace these adjustments together and continue supporting the campus and all its constituents! This gives us a great opportunity to reflect on the work we do, on our processes and procedures, and on how we can continue to make Sac State a great place to work. I hope your winter break is filled with light, love, and laughter. Have a wonderful break and we will see each other in 2023.

Every year ABA recognizes employees’ years of service. This year we celebrated anniversaries ranging from 10 to 20 years!
After a few years of having the gathering online, we were finally able to be in person - coming together to eat, play games, listen to tunes and celebrate the holidays.
In addition to celebrating our milestone anniversaries, ABA welcomed new colleagues, including our new AVP for Budget Planning and Administration. It was a great opportunity to finally meet one another in person.
We appreciate all of your hard work and dedication over the years, and thank you for the opportunity to recognize all that you do.
Take a look at all our colleagues recognized for years of service here.

Hornet Ticket Office Student Assistants
The Hornet Ticket Office may be located in the Athletic Center, but we handle ticketing needs for the School of Music, Department of Theatre & Dance, Planetarium, and sometimes other campus events, in addition to Athletics.
We consist of three staff members, but could not operate without our student assistants. During Fall and Spring, we may have up to 14 student staff members at any given time.
Students work quite independently at events, usually in pairs, and more collaboratively at football games and events in The Nest. Handling ticket sales, handing out will calls, administering player pass lists, and sometimes doing all three at once!
Some students start in their first year and stay with us through graduation, like our soon-to-be graduate, Kim Misenhimer (pictured in black knit hat), who started in the Fall of 2019, and is completing her BS in Criminal Justice with a minor in Sociology this semester (3.5 years!). Others join us for just a semester, like Tina Duong (pictured in white fuzzy hat), also graduating. Or in the middle of their college years like Sarah Morales Barrios (pictured in grey hoodie). We enjoy hiring first-year students who need a flexible position as they adjust to campus life, and hope they like it so much, they stay until graduation! We are a unique office that offers hours by choice, giving staff the opportunity to pick up as many event shifts as they like, working up to the 20-hour weekly max when they can, or as many as zero on busier weeks, supporting their educational goals and allowing time to put their studies or any other priorities first, as much as possible.
Hornet Ticket student assistants learn about our several partnered departments, details about parking and entrance times for various venues and events, and how to give great directions to visitors who land at our building. They train very quickly on how to maneuver through our ticketing software and manage accurate cash handling and safe credit card acceptance practices. Working in the ticket office develops customer service skills in both independent and team working environments. Staff is encouraged to utilize active listening to help visitors feel welcome and appreciated. Overall, our student assistants are entrusted to ensure customers have a great initial experience getting into a Sacramento State event in the hopes that they will continue to return! ABA in the Community
The holidays are known for gathering and being with loved ones, but there is also a lot of giving during these times. Working with community members and doing your part might not always happen during these times but we want to share how ABA gets involved. Post pictures of you in the community and where you engage with your community here!

Felicia Forte and Mellonie Richardson volunteer at the ASI Food Pantry. They help to stock shelves and move around boxes so that the pantry is ready for students, especially during winter and right before finals.
