ISSS encourages all international students to take a moment to think of a staff member at Miami who has supported your experience here.
The Donald Nelson Award for Outstanding International Student Support recognizes a Miami staff member who demonstrates an inclusive and supportive attitude toward international students and goes above and beyond to assist them. Miami faculty, staff and students are all able to submit nominations for this award.

Eligibility Requirements for Nominations:
Not eligible for this award are: faculty (professors/instructors), student workers, and employees from Global Initiatives,International Admissions, American Culture and English, and the English Language Center.
Eligible staff may include, but are not limited to, those who work in: Residence Life, Dining, Campus Services, Libraries, One Stop, Rinella Learning Center, Student Success, Police, Health Center, a departmental office, academic advising, athletics and others supporting international students outside the classroom.
Nomination deadline is October 3. Winner will be recognized during International Education Week at the Global Friendship Thanksgiving Dinner (upcoming newsletters will have more information).

Get Involved and Share Your Tea Culture!

Tea Tasting: A Sip Around the World will once again be offered from 7:00 - 9:30pm on Thursday, October 6 in Armstrong Student Center Pavilion and is an opportunity to showcase a variety of tea-drinking cultures, try an assortment of different flavors from all over the world, and provide a space for all to relax and enjoy on a Thursday night. Students and student groups interested in hosting a Tea Tasting table and sharing tea/beverage with the community are invited to sign up.

JC Penney Suit Up and Career Fair Prep

3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 11 | Discounts on select professional attire, shoes and accessories! Through a partnership with JCPenney, Miami University students, staff, faculty, and alumni/alumna are invited to save on your in-person and online purchases. The Career Center will provide buses to JCPenney and back to Miami University Oxford campus. See website for more details.

3:30 pm - 4:30 pm on September 13 and September 14 | Get tips you need to succeed at the Fall Career and Internship Fairs happening September 20-21. All students are welcome to attend, regardless of class year. Employer guests who are recruiting at the Fairs will share insights and network with you.

CSE International Intern Panel | 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 13

Benton Hall 114, hear from past Computer Science and Software Engineer (CSE) international students and learn about their experiences during their internships and CO-OPs.

South Asia: International Connections | 5:15 pm to 6:45 pm on Wednesday, September 14

Join fellow Miamians who want to connect with others from a specific country, region, heritage or language at this event with breakout rooms across MacMillan Hall. Activities and light refreshments from South Asia will be provided in International Student Center (MacMillan 017). Attendees are welcome to share a game, activity, info about another upcoming event, or other ways to stay connected.

Take Advantage of Services in the International Student Center!

The International Student Center (ISC) is located in MacMillan Hall 017 (lower level - enter through the parking lot, center entrance), and regularly open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
In addition to computers, printing, microwave and snacks/drinks (refrigerator coming back soon), a variety of beneficial services are available to international students.

Volunteer at UniDiversity 2022

|
The UniDiversity Festival is a collaborative initiative to promote diversity and inclusion in our community, and it is also a chance to learn more about the valuable contributions of the Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean peoples and cultures.
Volunteers are needed to help with the set up, operations, and clean up for this community event on September 30. Review the following volunteer sign up form for more details.
