Cash remains an indispensable part of the payment system.
Cash remains an indispensable part of the payment system.
Dear Amber,
Last week we held the Asia Pacific virtual conference. The wide scope of speakers and topics discussed is a testament to the talent in our industry and our ability to adapt to challenging circumstances.
The key message of this virtual event was the crucial role new technologies will play in cementing the role of the ATM, and growing `on its potential. The NextGen ATM will be an indispensable part of the industry’s future: by harnessing app-based interface and new security standards we can be confident of a strong and growing industry for many years to come.

ATMIA has also continued its strong advocacy work: now pushing for a return of the Tap and Go payment limit of A$100 no- Pin limit. It is ATMIAs view that as the Tap and Go payment limit was increased in response to health concerns at the start of the pandemic, as COVID-19 local transmission has substantially reduced in Australia, the current arrangement is no longer appropriate.
Despite a challenging year, we can all be grateful for the way we have responded. Our industry remains strong and with vaccines coming, growing business and consumer confidence 2021 will be a strong year for all of us.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Stay safe and stay strong.

Discover Global Network is the underlying platform for Discover Card, Diners Club, PULSE issuers, local international issuers, and the millions of merchants that accept them. With over 189 million cardholders around the world, global acceptance is core to Discover, which is currently accepted across 200 countries and territories. From this foundation, Discover has created a global payments platform that can support a wide variety of payment technologies.

Discover looks at the payment space from a different perspective, built around a few key premises:

Global access and scale: Discover has built its network on partnerships. With each new partnership established, its network grows stronger. With over 20 global network alliances, as well as relationships with key acquirers, enablers, and developers, it ensures that cardholders have up-to-date solutions, strong global acceptance, and evolving capabilities—all backed by a reliable network committed to the future.

Partner-centric solutions: Discover’s solutions evolve with its partners. DGN invests in the latest technologies to offer future-readied products and capabilities, ultimately supporting partners’ needs and providing resources aligned to their business objectives.

Collaborative approach: Partnership and collaboration are the core of DGN. The network is continually adding new partners from across the payments ecosystem, connecting brands to more people in more places.

DGN continues to build a network that can solve specific problems for merchants, acquirers, enablers, local networks, and issuers. Design best-practices suggest a large font size for easy readability both on desktop and mobile devices.
