Active Citizen of the Month

The Active Citizen of the Month is our way of showing our student leaders how much we appreciate the good work they do in our community. Active Citizens give back and inspire others to do the same! Join us in celebrating our Active Citizen this month, Katie Hogan! Learn more about Katie and her work below. Thanks for all you do to make the world a better place, Katie!
Katie Hogan (She/Her/Hers) is a sophomore majoring in Social Work with a minor in Psychology. Kate has experience volunteering in the GVSU and her hometown community. This past summer she helped a conservation crew cut down invasive trees in New Mexico. She also works as a Resident Assistant and participates in service-based student organizations. She recently joined the clubs Helping Hands and Hunger and Homelessness, and looks forward to their serive opportunities this semester.
"I think service is important because it helps people understand the needs of a community. It's one thing to be aware of an issue going on, but it's another thing to experience that issue and do something about it. Getting involved and giving back to the community is something that everyone can do, and it's an easy way to make friends! I would recommend finding a club on campus to get involved in as a first step!

Remember to Track your Service Hours!

Using Laker Link to track your service hours couldn't be easier! Keep track of your hours for scholarships, classes, for your resume and just to remember all of the great service experiences that you've had! Easy to use instructions can be found here
