BISD MEALS FOR NEXT YEAR &
SUMMER YOUTH MEALS
Did you know that school lunches and breakfasts will be available for FREE next school year?
The USDA established a waiver to support access to nutritious meals when students return to their school buildings in the fall.  This program is available to students who choose the "whole meal"   students wishing to purchase only milk or a la carte items will still be able to do so.

NOTE: Families who may qualify for free or reduced-priced meals should continue to complete a new application at the beginning of the school year to ensure they have access to other district and federal benefits (like potentially additional Pandemic EBT).

Questions? Email  NutritionServices@bisd303.org.
NEW!  June 17 through August 31 Bainbridge Island Rotary Club and Helpline House have partnered to provide meals to youth. The meals will be distributed at Helpline House on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays between noon and 4 p.m. If you need the meals delivered, please contact: meals@bainbridgeislandrotary.org.
Thank you to these fantastic organizations for offering this tremendous community service!
PLEASE COMPLETE THE ABC PROCESS FOR 21-22
There's one important step to complete before summer.
Please complete the Annual Back-to-school Check-in process (ABC) for every BISD student in your family. Access the ABCs by logging in to your Family Access account
IMPORTANT: The ABC 21-22 process must be completed before you can access your student's class placement or class schedule for next year. Class placements/schedules will be available in late August.
BISD is planning on bringing students back for full-time learning in September.
If your student left and you are interested in returning, please click here to begin the enrollment process. (BISD will also offer an online option for those who need it.)

DISTRICT IMPROVEMENT PLAN UPDATE:
6-8 MATH CURRICULUM ADOPTION

The District Improvement Plan (DIP) states that BISD:

Will ensure all students have access to a challenging, relevant and inclusive curriculum that helps them understand their world and build the knowledge and skills they need to shape their futures.
In alignment with the DIP, the School Board recently approved Illustrative Math through Desmos as the new math curriculum for grades 6-8. The new curriculum will roll out to classrooms next school year and 6-8 grade math teachers will receive training on Illustrative Math this August and throughout the school year.

The curriculum is aligned to both the Washington State learning standards or “Common Core State Standards”. The program is appropriate for different types of learners and there are resources for families to support and enrich the lessons.
To learn more (including input from teachers and students involved in the pilot program), view the Math Adoption slides from the 6/8/21 school board meeting here.
