Top 5 Reasons Your Company Should Hire High School Interns
Every summer, employers welcome college students into their offices and host them for a summer internship opportunity.
However, more employers should offer students internship opportunities at the high school level. Here are the top 5 reasons to welcome high school students as interns at your company.
1. RTSWS students are top tier candidates and improve diversity of thought
RTSWS high school students are quick learners, advanced in areas of technology, and pick up new concepts at an impressive rate. Having input from interns at this age will provide value to your company’s diversity of thought.
2. Community partnerships improve company energy & allow employees to share their knowledge
Having a high school summer intern can boost the company’s summer energy and allow your company to further support local students.
3. Workforce development for your employees and the student
A high school internship can give your employees an opportunity to take on a management and mentorship role.
4. They want to learn from YOU!
There is high demand for internships at the high school level - in fact, high school internship listings on the RTSWS Internship & Job Portal are consistently the highest viewed opportunities on our site.
5. Bridge the pipeline
By hosting a high school intern, your company is not only getting ahead on your college candidate search; but, you are also making a difference in closing the gender gap within the finance industry.

Saxena White's First Annual Diversity Investing Symposium
Last week, the CEO and Founder of RTSWS, Maura Cunningham, was in Delray Beach, FL, for Saxena White's First Annual Diversity Investing Symposium.
This trailblazing event perfectly demonstrated the positive outcomes of women helping women in the finance industry. Featuring leading women in the pension and investment space, the panelists shared their diversity investment expertise, discussed the impact of investing in women- and minority-owned investment firms, and highlighted the recent trends in ESG investing.
Among the panelists was RTSWS's very own BOD member, Meredith Jones
The event featured three all-female panels, which included U.S.-based investors as well as leading women in investments throughout Latin America. The U.S panels focused on the importance of diversity investing and current trends in the space. The Latin America panels focused on women’s increased role in investments throughout the region, as well as ESG-related investment trends. See below for some pictures of the panels!
Next week, RTSWS CEO and Founder, Maura Cunningham and COO, Ashley Leftwich, are traveling to NYC for the MacroMinds Foundation 2022 Symposium, where we were selected as one of the beneficiaries. If you will be in attendance, come visit us at our booth and say hi!
